Famous couple: synastry Princess Madeleine of Sweden and Christopher O'Neill

Princess Madeleine of Sweden married businessman Christopher O'Neill on June 8, 2013. When they announced the engagement, transit Juno was on her Progressed Ascendant. At the time of the wedding one of the most interesting aspects in her chart was Progressed Venus conjunct natal Sun. It looks as if she found the love of her life, after an earlier long time engagement ending in a goodbye. You can read all about that on my blog Astropost, using the link. What I didn't mention there is that her Sun in Gemini is now opposition transit Pholus in Sagittarius. This symbolizes a turning point in life.

This post is about the interaction between the charts of Madeleine and her husband Christopher.

MADELEINE AND CHRISTOPHER SYNASTRY
Here is her natal chart. The 'transits' are for the day of birth of Christopher O'Neill.
There is little match in lifestyle. Her husband is a Cancer, she is a Gemini. Their is friendship and they can learn to get used to each other easily, because their Moons are in friendly signs (Aquarius and Libra), just like Mars. Mercury and Venus are not.

Her Mars square his Sun tells us that she will likely rival him, but he is the boss. It is the same synastry aspect that you see between King Willem Alexander and Queen Maxima of The Netherlands. (She is very popular and he is the successor of the family).

Other synastry aspects are:

  • His Venus in Gemini (the sign of her Sun) is inconjunct her Jupiter and opposition her Uranus: that looks a bit like an exciting party. His love and affection is changing her life in a positive way. They will have fun together, but life isn't always fun. It will be hard to keep up party time. Venus-Uranus combinations are for falling in love...but they have the tendency to lead to a flashlight relationship or feelings turning on and off.
  • His Neptune opposition her Mercury tells us that there will be a lot of misunderstandings.
  • His Mars square her Venus is a sign of passion, but not necessarily one of peace and quiet...

They don't share much, except Sun-Pluto (Sun trine Pluto - she- and Sun exactly square Pluto for him). On my site Astromarkt about sharing aspects (http://www.astromarkt.net/sharing-aspects.html ) you may read about Sun-Pluto shared aspects:

If Sun and Pluto make an aspect in both of your charts living together will not be easy. Two strong wills, two fanatics, both wanting to win and to have the power. Let us say: playing power games, sometimes. If harmonious both will finally win in some way or win and survive together after making a difficult start. If both have the affliction in their chars, than there is the possibility of making each others’ life hell. But for some reason they are stuck to each other and will not easily separate. In crisis situations these people take charge and cooperate to survive. In teams they are joining forces to win as long as there is ‘the other’ to combat, trying to beat the team member by doing the best they can. Maybe that is why so many football teams have members with Sun-Pluto aspects.

Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney are a couple (now, March 2013). He is born on July 15, 1981. She is born on March 28,1986 in New York.
They share a hard Sun-Pluto aspect (he has the square, she has the inconjunct) and that means that living together will be challenging!

CHRISTOPHER
With transit Pluto inconjunct his progressed Sun the mentioned challenges have begun this year. They say that he doesn't like the media much. He will have to get used to a different lifestyle now that he married a famous person instead of that of a silent millionaire.

Above is the chart of the DOB with transits and progressions for the wedding day of Christopher O'Neill, an international (an American born in London) whose conjunction of Sun, Mercury and Saturn is square Pluto. That is for the strategic mind. Now that he marries his Swedish Princess, Progressed Sun is square Jupiter, the symbol of success and of ... the international. His progressed Venus is close to his wife's progressed Sun. That is pretty OK for the first period of their partnership!:) They met each other when it was time for love in her chart and when she drew his loving attention. (Learn about meeting each other and astrology: http://www.astromarkt.net/index.php?id=104)

It is a complicated synastry and it will probably be a relationship with some challenges. In fact, that might keep the relationship interesting and surprising, just as Venus-Uranus desires.
RESONATION
Just an observation: in his natal chart tSaturn is inconjunct Neptune. When he married Saturn was trine Neptune and both planets trined his natal Sun. Also Mars is quintile Uranus in the natal chart. Transit Uranus is trine his natal Mars now. I don't wish to speculate about the meaning of the aspects, but I want to point at the fact that important events in life are often triggered by the resonation of natal aspects by transit or progression.

Unlike royal spouses like Maxima, Christopher will not be an official member of the royal family.

A mortal marriage: Louis and Hélène Althusser

Louis Althusser and his wife Hélène, marxist intellectuals, had a difficult relationship that lasted until he killed her. What do the charts say about the relationship of this famous couple?

In short: they clicked, they didn't see each other clearly and it was a painful relationship with strong ties of a ideological couple with more than one shared experience or characteristic. It was a marriage strongly defined by the eventually destructive ailment of the husband.

MATCH: OK
How was the match? Surprisingly good. Look at the chart of Hélène with the transits of the day of birth of her husband and later killer:

- Sun conjunct Sun is for joined life style, joined ways of living and living together as one, tightly. They were a bit of the same kind.
In this case that was very difficult, because Althusser had problems accepting himself. So how could he accept his alter ego or the one in the mirror?

- Venus conjunct Venus should mirror joined sympathies and preferences, loving each other. The story says, however, that they argued about almost everything, like buying clothes. Maybe that WAS because they used to feel at ease with each other.

- Their Moon signs didn't match (Pisces and Aquarius), so they had different needs, habits and backgrounds. It wasn't easy to share the same house.

- It was easier to share the same bed, perhaps. Mars is sextile Mars and that is a match.

They 'clicked', mostly.

STRANGE SYNASTRY
Her midpoint Sun/Moon is square his Chiron. There is hurt and pain related to the marriage. He hurt her all the time and maybe  she hurt him, too. It seems to have been part of the deal. On http://www.edwardfox.f2s.com/althusser1.html they quote a friend saying that they were both the knife and the wound to each other.

His Neptune is quindecile her Ascendant and that is a rare and nasty coincidence that creates a confusing situation. His Sun is quintile Neptune, and that is creating confusion anyway.

Her Neptune and Uranus are square his Sun and in her natal chart the Sun is square Uranus and Neptune, too. Perhaps she wanted to be blind for what she saw (for example, when he flirted with others). Maybe they never really saw each other as they really were.

One of the most important aspects of the relationship is his Saturn conjunct her Ascendant. There also was a sort of tendency to control or limit Helene (Saturn-Ascendant) and she respected him. There was an age difference (she was older). In the end, he ended her life. Saturn-Ascendant relationships tend to last long, sometimes because the Saturn person doesn't let the Ascendant person go…

All in all they clicked (but they had different habits). She idolized him and he mesmerized her. And she was motivated and attracted by his pain and by him hurting her? (Chiron*) Also, it  was a relationship based on guilt or responsibility, with an age difference.

NO DIVORCE
Why didn't they file for divorce? I think that it is because of the fact that they both had not enough aspects related to divorce. His Moon opposition Saturn is only one of the 4 indications of divorce in a male's chart. Her Sun conjunct Mars is wide, but she has Sun square Uranus, tightly. They were more than adult when they met, so apparently they had a hard time finding a partner. When he started to have fans and followers, there was enough choice. Or am I cynical?

SHARED ASPECTS
When people share aspects, they share the same experiences or characteristics. For example, when you had a hard time in love (Venus-Saturn) and your partner, too, you are likely to stick together in order to avoid more pain.
  • THE HIDDEN SHARED VENUS-SATURN
You know that Venus - Saturn makes you stick like glue to marriage, because of obligations, the mortgage, parenthood or other feelings of responsibility or guilt.
Helen has a minor aspect between Venus and Saturn: 157.5 degrees (sesquisquare + half semi square).
Louis has the semi square.

They shared Venus-Saturn. Quoting myself (http://www.astromarkt.net/sharing-aspects.html ):
Venus-Saturn: staying together as long as possible because love is a serious thing. And if you break up (possible with conflicts and supported by more indications) the pain is long felt.
He was never true to her. He seduced women in front of her, just to hurt or punish her. But she didn't leave him. I think that Hélène's Moon inconjunct Venus shows an almost desperate need to be loved that eventually cost her her life (as Venus is ruler 8th house of life and death.
  • SHARING SUN-URANUS
She had Sun square Uranus
He had Sun trine Uranus
It means that their relationship had an unusual start and that there was excitement and tension between them. It seems that she  was his first sex partner.
  • SHARING SUN-NEPTUNE
She has Sun square Neptune
He had Sun quintile Neptune

They were both idealist and possibly had a romantic idea about the world. They also were unclear abou tthemselves. Quoting myself again:
" Sun and Neptune shared in aspect gives you shared ideals, dreams and faith or even a shared idol! But with hard aspects you might share the same disillusions as well or this relationship is disillusive. Cooperating could work out best in an asylum or in a non-profit organization where they can help others, and each other."

This seems to be related to his mental situation and to the marxism.
  • SHARING VENUS-MARS
Venus conjunct Mars and Venus sextile Mars: they were people with a passion.

**It is an interesting case of a matching couple with difficulties. In the eyes of their friends, they were not 'compatible' at all, however. She was not elegant, she was old fashioned and she was humiliated by him in public. Saturn made it very hard on her and still she didn't leave.
**

KILLING
A. The killer
When he killed her, there were difficult and easy transits and progressions at the same time. What would you think of these transits and progressions?
1. Transit Mars trine Saturn
On that specific day, it was time for an easy death end.
2. Transit Saturn square Pluto
Having a hard time facing consequences, fear of paying the price. Saturn rising before the Sun and Pluto conjunct Midheaven point at the importance of Saturn and Pluto.
3. Transit Pluto conjunct Sun
Stress!!!! As her Sun is conjunct his, it was shortly after her transit Pluto-Sun experience. They were both having difficult times.
4. Transit Jupiter conjunct Ascendant
This day was the start of 'getting better' (often a therapy or doctor is 'on the horizon' with Jupiter)
5. Transit Jupiter inconjunct Progressed IC
Improvement with a loss involved
6. Transit Saturn opposition Nessus in 7
A hard confrontation after death
7. Transit Nessus inconjunct progressed Sun
Facing anger from the past in an unbalanced way with a loss involved.
8. Progressed Sun sextile Progressed Uranus
Liberation, independence and change coming up.

B. The victim
Her transits and progressions on the final day:
1. Transit Uranus conjunct MC
A shock, something suddenly changes the status quo
2. Transit Neptune sextile Sun
Confused 'letting go'
3. Transit Chiron inconjunct Progressed Moon
A moment of hurt
4. Transit Chiron semi square Sun/Moon
Vulnerable frustrating moment in marriage (remember that his Chiron is square her Sun/Moon. This transit is resonating that).
5. Transit Mars inconjunct IC
Getting hurt with a loss involved
6. In the progressed chart Saturn was conjunct Midheaven
The end of a period or condition (she died)

NATAL CHART HELENE
- Her Mars rises before her Sun. They describe her as 'militant' and with a cracked voice (Sun square Uranus).

- In her natal chart the Descendant was conjunct Mars/Saturn. It refers to a death ends on the horizon. In the Second World War she was a member of the resistance.

- She also had Jupiter and Neptune in hard aspect with the angles, for hope, beliefs and following an ideology.

- Her Saturn was 'calling'!

The importance of Mars and Saturn and the midpoint Mars/Saturn-horizon shows that issues of limited energy, death ends and discipline were important in her life. It seems that she spoke of suicide more than once.

If you wish to see the picture of Hélène and her natal chart, go to Astrodienst:
http://www.astro.com/astro-databank/Althusser,_Hélène

NATAL CHART LOUIS
He was mentally ill and yet worshipped by his audience (Moon quatronovile Neptune and sesquisquare Jupiter).

He said that he did it without knowing it. I think that Sun quintile Neptune is the aspect of the creative double life and the creative fantasy, too. As you may see in the links, he explains that he had an identity crisis. On my site Astromarkt, in the article about Sun-Neptune, I mention the issue of identity crisis related to this aspect.
He said that it wasn't him, but it was him. Here is the chart with transits and progressions for the fatal day.

Famous couple: Juan Carlos and Sofia of Spain

The King and Queen of Spain will be married 50 years in May 2012. There are few catholic royals who won't stay together for life, even in hard times. (Exception: Prince Hugo Carlos and Princess Irene, see that post). Time is hard for the Spanish royal couple. Their charts show it, the wedding chart shows it and their natal charts also tell us about the symbol of 'decorum' and distance: Saturn.

WEDDING
Above is Queen Sofia's chart, with transits and progressions for the wedding day. In the early years of the marriage of Queen Sofia of Spain and King Juan Carlos her progressed Sun was conjunct Venus and sextile Mars. Venus and Mars are the planets of passion. Venus makes you happy. When she married, Progressed Venus was opposition Ceres (love and dynasty/motherhood) with transit Jupiter trine her Sun (social success).

This is the chart of Juan Carlos on the day of the wedding. His chart shows discipline and tension: P Mars conjunct Saturn and trine Pluto, for example and P Sun square Uranus). Right now the Sun is conjunct Saturn and trine Pluto. Pluto is his ruler 7 (marriage).

Do their charts match? A tiny bit, I’d say. Of course charts aren’t telling us all, but they mirror certain tendencies that I like to show you.

MATCH AND SYNASTRY
Sun signs
Their sun signs seem to be compatible (she is a Scorpio and he is a Capricorn). But… their birthdays are a challenge: their suns are semisesquisquare (67.5d) apart. (See if your birthdays match here).  That doesn’t necessarily mean that you can’t live together, but it will be more difficult to join the ways of life.
Moon signs
To compensate, their moons are in Aquarius. Their backgrounds, needs and habits are in line. There is at least friendship and attraction.
Venus signs and aspects
Venus in Sagittarius is no match for Venus in Capricorn, so that their preferences will differ. It makes it harder to enjoy things together. Her Sun/Moon is conjunct his Venus (ruler 1). There is a great sense of ‘ to belong’ together.
Mars signs
The challenging aspect between their Mars:  157.5 d (sesquisquare + half semi square) is for competition and anger after ‘fire’ from the start.
Synastry and Sun Saturn
There is a difficult synastry aspect and that is: her Saturn square his Sun. Such an aspect refers to barriers between them. This Sun-Saturn conflict becomes an issue now that he has Progressed Sun conjunct Saturn and now that transit Saturn is on the cusp of her 7th house (of marriage).

Saturn now
Saturn is hitting hard in the charts of los Reinos: the King and Queen of Spain, today, just before the 50th anniversary of their marriage. He broke a leg and he had to say sorry in public. She spent 15 minutes with him after three days. That is Saturn. Saturn is the symbol of criticism and separation in a relationship. Mistakes and faults are being highlighted when it is time for Saturn. Often that is just too much for the marriage (see examples*), and divorce follows, but divorce is rare in a royal catholic family. What is left is perhaps cool distance for a while. Or business as usual?
Even the chart positions of the wedding (on May 14, 1962) has difficulties: progressed Sun trine Neptune might make it a 'fairy tale' but there is an
    1. inconjunction of progressed Sun with Saturn and ...
    2. transit Saturn inconjunct the Sun of May 14 doesn't help much, either.
Well, they managed to stay together for almost 50 years, so I guess that this marriage survives in spite of these inconjunctions of Saturn and that they and their family will celebrate the 5 decades anyway. In spite of the mistress (Corrina zu Sayn-Wittgenstein Frankfurt-am-Main, supposedly born January 29, 1965 with her Venus semi square the king's Sun/Moon, her Neptune opposition his Ascendant - romance! - and Sun square the Sun of Sofia with Saturn on Sofia's Moon).

On Astropost there is a post with more about the present transits and progressions with Saturn in the charts of the king and queen of Spain for April 2012. I will send the link later.

    LINKS

*)Think of my post 'Saturn and saying goodbye'. I mentioned:
    • Maria Shriver (divorcing Arnold Schwarzenegger: transit Saturn sesquisquare progressed AC/MC and square progressed Sun.
    • Sandra Bullock, ex of Jesse James, had Progressed AC/MC square Saturn and transit Pholus in hard aspect with natal midpoint AC/MC when they separated.
    • Mrs Strauss-Kahn (15 July 1948, 16:30 New York) had Progressed MC square Saturn andTransit Neptune square Ascendant during the revelations and trial of her husband.

Famous couple: Crown Prince Felipe and his wife Letizia of Spain

This is the chart of Letizia, Crown Princess of Spain. The ‘ transits’ are the natal positions of her husband, Felipe, with exception of the Moon and his Ascendant and Midheaven (he has the Moon in the 20th degree of Aquarius, square the Ascendant in 20th degree of Taurus and Midheaven in the last degree of Capricorn). What occurs to me first is that Letizia has the Sun square Saturn, a difficult aspect when it comes to restrictions and status, just like Dutch Crown Princess Maxima and the Belgian Crown Princess. Letizia has 2 of the 4 indications for divorce in a woman's chart (Sun conjunct Mars and Mars exactly square Saturn) and Uranus is in her 7th house. First I thoughht that this was a risk for this marriage, but (see comments!): she was married before! Felipe doesn’t have the indications for divorce in a man’s chart. He has Neptune in the 7th house.

    MATCH?
The interaction between the positions of Princess and Prince (the aspects between the charts) tell us about the connection between them. So:

How does the next Spanish royal couple (Felipe and Letizia) match?

    • Their Suns don’t match (sesquisquare); who's the boss

    • Their Moons match (sextile); easy getting used to each other

    • Their Mercuries don’t match (157.5 degree = sesquisquare and half semi square); communications!!!

    • Venus biquintile Venus is a match expressing a creative way to match preferences and ...they found a way to love each other in spite of differences

    • Their Mars don’t match (opposition); attraction and competition (with the risk of fighting each other if they don't cooperate).
The complete picture is that they don’t match easy but they are strongly connected to each other. In a way there is a similarity with the synastry of the royal couple (the parents of the prince). See that post. Continue for more...

Marriage and wedding day of Grace Kelly

Grace Kelly became Princess Gracia of Monaco after her marriage with the Prince of Monaco.
The (civil) marriage date was April 18 1956. Here are chart, progressions and transits of that day.

    We see:
    - Transit Saturn conjunct Progressed Venus. You might read this as the old man joining the beauty, but it is also a sign of public confirmation of love. As in her natal chart Venus is sextile Saturn this transit/progression marks an important moment.
(- Progressed Ascendant conjunct Mars. Does this tell us about introducing the man into her life? Or was she born just a little bit earlier and P AC conjunct Mars was exact on the day of the birth of her first born?)
    - In the progressed chart of Grace Kelly, the Moon was square Jupiter and that is a rather nice statement of the ‘stars’ for a moment of success and joy.
    - Transit Venus was square the progressed Sun/Moon midpoint for having a nice day (focus on beauty, love and fun) and
    - Transit Uranus square Venus for excitement.
    - Transit Neptune conjunct Venus adds the romantic touch. Together Uranus and Neptune with Venus mean blinded by love.
    - Transit Jupiter/Uranus midpoint conjunct her Midheaven for a positive change of position and a helicopter view over the future.
    - Transit Uranus inconjunct Saturn mirrors the restrictions of protocol and demands. She later had to give up on her career.

It was apparently time for motherhood: progressed Sun opposition Ceres followed the wedding. Ceres is the symbol of motherhood and dynasties. See: http://www.astromarkt.net/ceres-in-astrology.html#pt

    MATCH
Here you see her natal chart and the positions of the day of birth of Prince Rainier.

I like to point at the binovile between their Suns: it means that they rejoiced each other’s existence and it helped to overcome the not matching signs. No, their Suns and Moons didn’t match (their life styles and habits didn’t either). Her Jupiter trine his Ceres tells us that she was beneficial for the dynasty. The couple also shares aspects between Venus and Jupiter (he has the opposition, she has the sesquisquare. That means (see Astromarkt http://www.astromarkt.net/sharing-aspects.html#pt )

Venus-Jupiter: sharing the love of traveling together, reading and growing. Your marriage makes you feel better, you are the popular couple. Together you love to party, too.

They got along well enough together and there are no signs of risk of divorce in Grace Kelly’s chart. Her Venus sextile Saturn relates marriage to duty, stability, parenthood, obligations and duration. With such an aspect you’d rather not divorce or change the material benefits of marriage for less consistent pleasures. A sextile is the aspect of the easy way out. In that sense, Venus sextile Saturn might point at making it easy on yourself by staying married. It doesn’t sound romantic? See http://www.astromarkt.net/venus-in-aspect-with-saturn.html#pt

    CHIRON IN 7th HOUSE
Maybe it is a shame, but I never have been that interested in Chiron, so I haven’t studied Chiron’s position much, sorry. Now I wonder what Chiron has to say in her seventh house, because transit Chiron is square this Chiron on her wedding day and because her Chiron was conjunct the Venus of Rainier. Chiron in the seventh house gets few ‘happy ever after-reviews’ on astrology sites. Chiron heals, they say, but Chiron is were the pain is. So perhaps she wasn’t that lucky in her ‘fairy tale marriage’ or perhaps Rainier healed her broken heart after some nasty relationships. (who knows for sure?). As Mercury is conjunct her Chiron, his Venus is also conjunct her Mercury. That is nice for talking to each other.

Grace Kelly was a talented and ambitious beauty and it was important for her to have a stable financial position. As the daughter of a rich man she couldn’t afford to marry a pauper. By marrying a prince she became the romantic idol for millions. Romance, that is Neptune...

Neptune is the most important planet in her chart. Neptune doesn't make aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees. Neptune is also rising before the sun in the natal chart and ruling the Moon in Pisces in the 5th house. Neptune has a lot of ways to be manifested in real life. Neptune turns up when words like belief, art, philantropy, movies, myths, photography, fantasy or media turn up. In a way she used almost the complete Neptunic vocabulary.

    100 year old bride

Mrs Dana Jackson married her (younger) friend at age 100. That is interesting for an astrologer, too. First of all because she still wants to get married in spite of her age. Second, because she is still vital enough to want it! She was born on February 2, 1912. There were indications for a chance to reach her age of 100 years:

    • - Uranus rises before her Sun (makes her special and is frequent in the charts of oldies. However, it takes more than one indication...)
    • - She has 5 positions in air signs. Air signs take it more lightly and seek contact. That is a big help on the way.
    • - Uranus in Aquarius is in aspect with the midpoint Sun/Jupiter (in Sagittarius). Sun-Jupiter-Uranus combinations are frequent among centenarians.

If we had her time of birth, we'd know more, but those three together helped her to reach this age for sure...(And genes of course)

But why did she marry now? We see transit Uranus semi square natal Sun for the news and transit Pluto conjunct her Venus for the strong desire to get married. Progressed Venus inconjunct Progressed Jupiter is typical for a celebration (and the inconjunction for overdoing it a bit). Proressed Mercury square Mercury doesn't seem to have anything to do with it, unless Mercury rules the 7th house of marriage (and we don't know about that). However, I think that the main point is that her Moon is in Libra, showing the need to be together and have some company!

Here are the charts of the day of her birth, with transits and progressions and the the progressed chart with transits.

Seal and Heidi and the not matching charts

Even when two persons' signs don't match, they can have a long time relationship. Often Venus is making a sweet aspect between the charts and than everything looks sweet, nice and attractive. Seal and Heidi Klum never had matching charts. They were together long enough to become parents. Venus quatronovile (160d) Venus was of great help and so was his Mars biquintile her Mars. They had a good time, but now it is over. Here is the chart of the day of birth of Seal. The transits (the positions outside the circle) are Heidi's.

His Sun in Pisces, hers in Gemini
Those signs  - and life styles - don’t match. Who is the boss? Who is the one getting attention?

Her Moon in Gemini and his in Sagittarius or Capriocorn. No match. They have to make compromises to live in the same room.

The signs of their Mercury are Aquarius and Gemini. The Mercury’s don’t make a nasty aspect, so they seem to be able to communicate.

Venus quatronovile Venus is great. They enjoy each other’s presence and love each other. Such an aspect helps to keep the relationship going for a long time, even if there is no match.

Mars biquintile Mars:; creative cooperation! They created 3 children!

Passion is OK and so is communication, but they have a different life style and different habits. But they also have a mutual Pluto-Sun synastry. Pluto is for intensity and intensity makes it hard when you are basically different.

The marriages of Princess Anne of England

Princess Anne of England married twice. Her natal charts has 3 out of the 4 indications for divorce for women*) and a conflict between the rulers of the 1st and 7th house. That is enough for at least one divorce. This post is about the matches.

    FIRST MARRIAGE
Princess Anne’s first husband, the father of her children, is Mark Philips, an Olympic medal winnig horseman. They married on November 14, 1973 and divorced in 1992.During their marriage he had an affair and fathered a daughter (in August 1985). This was confirmed by a DNA-test in 1991, soon after her progressed Venus conjunct Saturn (an astrological statement for a depression in a marriage).
Anne and Mark didn’t match much from the start. Their Mars and Moons were in the ‘right’ signs, but their Sun signs, Mercuries and Venus didn’t match. They had children together, but they didn’t like each other much in the end.
BTW His Jupiter was trine her Sun and that is mirroring support and trust. Apparently that doesn’t mean that a person will be faithful and true. It just means that one of the partners puts her/his trust in the other one (and we don’t know if that was the right thing to do).
Here you see the chart of Anne with the positions of Mark Philips.

    SECOND MARRIAGE
Princess Anne’s present husband is Tim Laurence. They aren’t married in the Church of England, because this Church (with the Queen as leader) doesn’t allow marriage after divorce.  (Watch Uranus in the 9th house for this. It is an indication for a change in conviction or religion).

They married on December 12,1992 and are still together, in spite of their synastry. The Venus opposition Venus, Mars opposition Mars and his Neptune square her Venus is pointing at a passionate and romantic start and risking later ups and downs, competition or even fights.  Or perhaps they manage to control that in trying to beat each other in sports:).

When she got married her Progressed Sun was sextile the Midheaven and inconjunct Jupiter. Transit Pluto and Pallas were on the progressed Ascendant. Also T Jupiter was inconjunct Venus. I guess that that aspect is reflecting the wedding partyJ.
Here you see the Princess’ chart with the transits and progressions of her wedding day.

*) The indications for divorce/not getting married in a woman's chart are:
Sun-Mars, Mars-Saturn, Sun-Uranus and Venus-Uranus aspect combinations (in particular the hard aspects).
The indications for males are: Moon-Saturn, Moon-Neptune, Venus-Neptune and Mars-Uranus.

Famous couple: Princess Irene and Prince Carlos Hugo de Borbon Parma

Born on August 5, 1939, Princess Irene is the second daughter of Juliana and Bernhard, the former Queen and Prince and the sister of Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands. She studied Spanish language and literature. She became a catholic when she married her Carlos Hugo de Borbon, who didn’t become the King of Spain, though he wanted to. She gave up her position in the Netherlands for this marriage…on the 29th of April 1964. AC/MC is semi square Juno, showing how crucial her marriage was.

Here you see her chart with transits and progressions for the wedding day.

The majority of the positions on her wedding day show formality and distance (her family was not allowed to be in church that day because the government hadn’t agreed with the marriage. I can give a complete list of transits and progressions, but it is actually enough to point at the transit op Saturn, opposition progressed Venus and conjunct progressed Moon. The honeymoon (Moon-Venus) and the formal situation putting her down. My latest post was about the effect of Venus-Saturn and this is another example of it.

She divorced him later. It was her first and only marriage. *)

    MATCH WITH CARLOS HUGO

His Saturn is inconjunct her natal Sun and his Uranus is trine her natal Sun. Their Sun signs are matching though the Suns are 112.5 degrees apart (a square + half semi square!), and their Venus don’t match (square). His Moon might be conjunct her Sun (a traditional synastry aspect between a man and a woman, but more often it is his Sun and her Moon) and their Moon signs are matching.

The Saturn inconjunct Sun combination is the most important indication for divorce and separations (or boundaries, obstacles and limitations without control, making it hard to be together), though there are more (not mentioned here). Her ex-husband is still around when family matters (maybe because of the matching Moons.). They have four children together.

PS Today there was an announcement that Prince Carlos Hugo de Borbon is dying now. He already said goodbye to his family.

*) Princess Irene has all of the four aspect combinations of possible divorce*) in her chart, but only 2 of them are difficult (the square and the quindecile):
    - Sun binovile Uranus (going your own way, regardless of other’s opinions),
    - Venus quintile Uranus (creative adventures in love) and
    - Mars square Saturn (seperation from a man, dead ends) with
    - Sun quindecile Mars
*) Afflictions between Sun-Mars, Sun-Uranus, Venus-Uranus and Mars-Saturn and/or between the houses 1 and 7 are indicative for a greater chance for divorce or not getting married in the charts of women. In the charts of men these afflictions are: Moon-Saturn, Moon-Neptune, Venus-Neptune and Mars-Uranus and/or house1 - house 7.  More of those afflictions increase the possibility of separations.

    EXPLANATION
A binovile is an aspect of 80 degrees, a novile is 40 degrees.  The novile means ‘ finding joy in/rejoicing’…More noviles on Linda Goodman’s forum… http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum24/HTML/201926.html

    More quindeciles here…

Orcus, Lothar Matthaeus, Charles and Diana

Broken promises and revenge or punishment: that is what Orcus, the latest discovered Plutonian object, is all about. This symbol must be important for astrology and love…

Lothar Matthaeus, the German football player, was confronted with pictures of his fourth wife, obviously enjoying the company of another man. This was a perfect example of the effect of a transit of Orcus. Inconjunctions are reflecting lost balance or losts…Transit Orcus is exactly inconjunct his natal Sun right now.
    And there is more…

Transit Saturn is opposition natal Sun (end of a period, caused by others) and transit Uranus is conjunct natal Sun (upheaval, you are in the news…).

So we can’t just blame Orcus for this, but the symbol was there as obvious as the secret lover was. But it could just be coincidence, of course...

Orcus is important in the charts of the Prince and Princess of Wales, Charles and Diana, too. He has Sun inconjunct Orcus. She has Sun conjunct Orcus. His Orcus is sextile/semi-sextile her Uranus and Venus . Those aspects of Orcus and Sun are reflecting that ‘ keeping oaths’ (not) was an aspect of importance in their lives. They shared this aspect of learning to live with the Plutonian Orcus.

Of course there was more to say about the match and the wedding. See this post… http://astrology-love-romance.blogspot.com/2010/07/princess-dianas-wedding-day-and-match.html

Famous couples: John and Elizabeth Edwards & John Edwards and Rielle Hunter

Former candidate for the USA presidency, John Edwards tried to keep it a secret and he denied for a long time that he is the father of the baby of his lover, Rielle Hunter. John Edwards is now divorcing his wife (who is a breast cancer patient). Why does this happen? Is it just because he is rich and famous, or are there indications in the natal chart? Or both? Indications for divorce in the chart of men are afflictions of the Moon with Saturn and Neptune, Venus in hard aspect with Neptune, Mars afflicted by Uranus and/or afflictions between the houses 1 and 7. We see a number of those afflictions in the chart of John Edwards.

    1. Moon with Saturn and Neptune
The Moon sesquisquare Saturn and Neptune seems to be very appropriate considering the fact that his wife is seriously ill.  Saturn-Neptune is the combination of illnesses, too.
The aspects of the Moon with Saturn and Neptune are also two of the four indications that the astrologer Ram mentioned as indicative for possible divorce (or not marrying at all) in the charts of males.

    2. Venus and Neptune: a quindecile
John Edwards has Venus quindecile Neptune (and Saturn)! That is 3!

    3. In the Astrodatabank chart Cancer is on the Ascendant. The dispositor of Cancer is the Moon. The seventh house is ruled by Saturn as Capricorn is on the cusp of the Descendant. Moon and Saturn are sesquisquare! Afflictions between the rulers of the first and seventh house are also difficult for a marriage.

    WHY A LONGLASTING MARRIAGE?
Capricorn on the seventh house might have kept him in a marriage because of responsibilities, parenthood or other obligations. Capricon is for consistency! And for keeping up appearances, too. Ruler 7th house, Saturn, is in Libra. Libra is the sign of 'being together'. The position of Saturn in Libra might prolongue relationships (good and bad ones).
in the news with sexual activities related to your career.

    ASTROLOGICAL EXCUSES
John Edwards is a good looking Mr. Nice Guy and probably well to do. That is attracting a lot of ladies. With Moon in Gemini conjunct Jupiter rising before the Sun, he is the popular and positive looking guy. John Edwards also has Venus quintile Uranus, so he has a creative desire for 'something new', 'excitement' and adventures. Uranus is on the Ascendant shows the individualistic approach and an independent and free presentation. The unbearable load of being married, in the chart of good looking individualist...that is asking for problems. It may be lonely at the top sometimes, but not alone!:) Here is the chart. The positions on the outside of the circle ('transits') are the positions of the day of birth of Elizabeth:

Look at Mars (square MC): Mars is not making aspects within 5 degrees orb. Mars is 'calling', reflecting energy (drive, work or sex) at any possible level. Jupiter is rising before the Sun and Mars is 'calling': that is a statement for success in life and.. for reproduction. He officially has five children now.

There are probably a lot of astrological 'excuses', but I think that Saturn ruling the 7th in Libra and quindecile Venus is the key to sticking to an outdated marriage.

Of course, a man who has so many indications for divorce will not marry a perfectly matching partner. I don't want to sound cynical, but there must be room to fail, as it seems. That is why there is little match with Elizabeth.

    MATCH WITH WIFE ELIZABETH
She is a Cancer, he is a Gemini…no match
His Moon in Gemini, hers in Libra…match (their families and habits match)
His Mercury in Cancer, hers in Gemini…no match (differences of opinion)
(Her Mercury is conjunct his Sun, btw)
His Venus in Taurus, hers in Leo,…no match (different styles and sympathies)
His Mars in Gemini, so is hers…match! But it is Mars. And Mars conjunct Mars might be regarded as an affliction when it comes to disagreement...

    SYNASTRY WITH ELIZABETH
Her Pholus is sesquisquare his Sun/Moon as if she is shooting her feet by marrying him or that the marriage was a turning point in her life.
Her Neptune is exactly square his Ascendant and that means that she doesn’t see him clearly as he is. Disappointment might follow...

    MATCH WITH RIELLE HUNTER
He is a Gemini, she is a Pisces or Aries…Match?
The Moons are in the same sign…Match
    Mercury square Mercury…differences of opinion
    Venus in same sign…Match
Mars in Gemini square Mars in Pisces (first hot attraction, fighting each other later, competition)

It is a lot of attraction and ...a lot of discussions....
Here is the chart of John Edwards again, this time with the ('transit') position of Rielle Hunter.

Famous couples:The Jupiter of Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem (Tom Cruise and Matthew McConaughey)

Penelope Cruz married Javier Bardem early this month. They didn't have a big party with celebrities but married in the house of a friend. See the news...
What the men are sharing, is that Penelope's Jupiter (symbol of protection, help and trust) was with their Suns...Here you read why they married right now, what the match is between the two and what kind of aspects (characteristics) they share...

    WHY NOW?
Official and public arrangements (contracts) and time are symbolized by Saturn, in astrology and Venus is for love and marriage. The two planets are the keys to this wedding.
    - His Venus-Saturn is 15 degrees from her Sun (that is semi square Venus) and
    - His Venus -Saturn conjunction is semi sextile her Venus
(so: his Saturn is semi sextile her Venus and his Venus is conjunct his Saturn).
    - His Progressed Sun is conjunct his Venus-Saturn conjunction right now.
Perhaps that ment that it was time to get married.  There is a continuous rumor about Penelope being pregnant (since last summerJ), but of course, it might be true this time...

Penelope Cruz has an important Jupiter in her natal chart. This Jupiter is in a tight conjunction with her husband's Sun. And her Jupiter is trine the Suns of her former lovers (Tom Cruise and Matthew McConaughey). Perhaps Jupiter rules her 5th or 7th house or is IN the seventh house?

The following text is ment for advanced students of astrology and contains the chart of the day of birth of Penelope with the positions of her husband outside the circle

Princess Diana's wedding day and the match with Charles

The late Princess of Wales was born on a July 1 and married in July. This July post is about the match between her and Charles and about their charts on their wedding day.

    MATCH
It is almost amazing how little match there is between the charts of Diana and Charles of England. (On the left is the chart of Charles with the natal positions of Diana.)
Though their Suns and Moons are not in conflicting signs, there is also no harmony, like a trine would offer. There is no tight aspect between them. And Mars in Virgo is no match for Mars in Sagittarius, even if there is no tight square.  Venus in Taurus can live in peace with Venus in Libra, but they aren’t really a match. There is no major or minor aspect that links the planets. How could they have fallen in love? It was not because they ‘ matched’ and anyone could see that. If I were a match maker, would I want them to be a couple? No, not at first sight. It is no surprise that the charts don't show a couple at frst sight either.

So there must have been another attraction between them and there is. His Sun was exactly conjunct her midpoint AC/MC and that made him the center of her life and being. He was her destiny. And her Jupiter is on his Descendant. His uncle advided him to marry Diana. It didn’t make them happy together. But she gave him children. Jupiter is in his fifth house of children.

HIS CHART ON THE WEDDING DAY
He married her with transit Uranus on his progressed Venus, transit Neptune semi sextile the natal Sun and transit Chiron exactly opposition his natal Sun. Progressed Midheaven inconjunct natal Venus is completing the picture. It says: a marriage, but...(there is something wrong).

HER CHART ON THE WEDDING DAY

Diana recently had had Neptune on her Ascendant, making her insecure and shy. But she also had transit Jupiter trine Jupiter (happy period), the Sun sign changing (life style changing), the Ascendant square Jupiter and Saturn (ups and downs), Progressed Midheaven conjunct Mars (your status related to a man).
The life of Diana changed more than the life of Charles, who was used to the media, the ceremonies and the protocol.

We all know what happened next.

    A little married and more...
    Saturn and Pluto in Libra

This post is about the (different stades of) transformation in marriage, Saturn and Pluto in Libra and a book that shows the different reflection of the 1982 transits in different parts of the world.

    http://www.cnn.com/2010/LIVING/06/15/a.little.bit.married.relationships/index.html?hpt=C2
See the link to CNN. It is about Hannah Seligson’s book ‘ A little bit married’ and an interview with her about couples staying together for years without ever getting married. Well, so what?

In some parts of Europe people use NOT to get married these days, even if there are children. They don’t get married because they feel they don’t need an official license (and they don’t, as there are other ways to make financial commitments). Maybe it is also because of the fact that the church has less and less influence. In Denmark 60% of the children are born out of wetlock. Parenthood and marriage has split. Fathers and mothers call each other their ‘ friends’. Two generations ago they called each other ‘ mother’ and ‘father’, sometimes even when the children weren’t around! The roles of the individuals in a relationship changed. They are no longer parents, they are partners.

    SATURN AND PLUTO IN LIBRA
The author was born in 1982, when Saturn (symbol of a little bit) was in the sign of marriage (Libra), just like Pluto (symbol of problems and investigations). You could also read these placements like this:

    - must (Pluto) get married (Libra)? Or transformations in relationships?
    - obligation (Saturn) to stay together (Libra)? Or the disadvantages of marriage being an issue?
    - The ‘die hard’ relationship or ‘abstination’ of marriage?

The author of ‘ A little bit married’ was born in a Saturn and Pluto in Libra generation. Still, in the USA people marry quickly and rather young. A look at the interview reminded me of the fact that in the USA – or at least where Hannah lives- conventional marriage is more common than living together like one (without official papers and without romantic white gowns). Wouldn’t that make a difference for reading charts?

The issues of Saturn and Pluto in Libra are personal issues if the planets have a prominent position (angular, rising before the sun or without major aspects) or if they are placed in the 7th house of marriage. All other individuals born with Saturn and Pluto in Libra experience the effect indirectly (through others, from the media), perhaps.

    TIMES CHANGING?
Of course, there is a big difference in transformations in marriage between the Western world and small villages in conservative and strictly religious worlds. Maybe it is significant that Pluto (the symbol of transformation) is not being regarded as a ‘ ruler’ in Indian and classical astrology? But let me stick to the Western world.

The revolutionary change of Pluto in Libra seems to have had more effect in Europe than it had in the USA. But divorce figures have risen in Europe and in the USA, except in those countries where less people got married☺. See, you always have to consider the status quo, the moral and local traditions and habits when you read individual charts or interprete the effect of Saturn and Pluto in Libra. It is different, depending on the culture.

Meanwhile, the next generation is more willing to get married. And they have parties and are dressed in white when they do. Some young men even ask the father for the hand of the daughter, like in the old days! Times are changing again, maybe because some things never change. BTW I will be celebrating the wedding of friends next month. They lived together for more than 10 years and have a 7 year old child. Now they decided that it was time for a party and time to get more than just a little bit married☺

Famous couple Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher

Sacha Baron Cohen had a wedding ceremony in Paris*) with Isla Fisher. They already have a little daughter. Here you see the positions on his day of birth. The transits are for the day that Isla Fisher was born. How is their match?

    MATCH?
He is a Libra, her sun sign is Aquarius: match! They don't have much problems living together as one.

His Moon in Leo doesn't match her Pisces Moon (and that is a problem for sharing families and habits), but they might be biquintile of course (in which case they found a creative solution).

Mercury is square Mercury (for differences of opinion)

Venus in Scorpio matches with Venus in Capricorn, but they are sesquisemisquare (so there might be frustrating differences in sympathies and taste sometimes)

Mars is trine Mars and that is a good match for the planet of sex, production, work and energy. They easily share the same drive.

    And:
    - Her Jupiter is opposition his Sun so she trusts and supports him.
    - His Uranus is trine her Sun and Mars so they are friends.
    - His Moon might be opposition her Sun and that would be a classical indication for attraction.

As she is 34 now her progressed Sun is in the 18th degree of Pisces, trine the True Node and in the sign of her Moon. In a recent interview she said that she found comedy's hard sometimes. Perhaps that is her Moon in Pisces and Neptune oriental speaking. Isla Fisher is an actress, The Moon in Pisces is in aspect with Venus and Neptune in this chart for noon. The time of her birth is unknown and so is Sacha's.

*) See Astropost for today's date for the transits and progressions that accompanied the event.
