Famous couple: synastry Princess Madeleine of Sweden and Christopher O'Neill

Princess Madeleine of Sweden married businessman Christopher O'Neill on June 8, 2013. When they announced the engagement, transit Juno was on her Progressed Ascendant. At the time of the wedding one of the most interesting aspects in her chart was Progressed Venus conjunct natal Sun. It looks as if she found the love of her life, after an earlier long time engagement ending in a goodbye. You can read all about that on my blog Astropost, using the link. What I didn't mention there is that her Sun in Gemini is now opposition transit Pholus in Sagittarius. This symbolizes a turning point in life.

This post is about the interaction between the charts of Madeleine and her husband Christopher.

MADELEINE AND CHRISTOPHER SYNASTRY
Here is her natal chart. The 'transits' are for the day of birth of Christopher O'Neill.
There is little match in lifestyle. Her husband is a Cancer, she is a Gemini. Their is friendship and they can learn to get used to each other easily, because their Moons are in friendly signs (Aquarius and Libra), just like Mars. Mercury and Venus are not.

Her Mars square his Sun tells us that she will likely rival him, but he is the boss. It is the same synastry aspect that you see between King Willem Alexander and Queen Maxima of The Netherlands. (She is very popular and he is the successor of the family).

Other synastry aspects are:

  • His Venus in Gemini (the sign of her Sun) is inconjunct her Jupiter and opposition her Uranus: that looks a bit like an exciting party. His love and affection is changing her life in a positive way. They will have fun together, but life isn't always fun. It will be hard to keep up party time. Venus-Uranus combinations are for falling in love...but they have the tendency to lead to a flashlight relationship or feelings turning on and off.
  • His Neptune opposition her Mercury tells us that there will be a lot of misunderstandings.
  • His Mars square her Venus is a sign of passion, but not necessarily one of peace and quiet...

They don't share much, except Sun-Pluto (Sun trine Pluto - she- and Sun exactly square Pluto for him). On my site Astromarkt about sharing aspects (http://www.astromarkt.net/sharing-aspects.html ) you may read about Sun-Pluto shared aspects:

If Sun and Pluto make an aspect in both of your charts living together will not be easy. Two strong wills, two fanatics, both wanting to win and to have the power. Let us say: playing power games, sometimes. If harmonious both will finally win in some way or win and survive together after making a difficult start. If both have the affliction in their chars, than there is the possibility of making each others’ life hell. But for some reason they are stuck to each other and will not easily separate. In crisis situations these people take charge and cooperate to survive. In teams they are joining forces to win as long as there is ‘the other’ to combat, trying to beat the team member by doing the best they can. Maybe that is why so many football teams have members with Sun-Pluto aspects.

Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney are a couple (now, March 2013). He is born on July 15, 1981. She is born on March 28,1986 in New York.
They share a hard Sun-Pluto aspect (he has the square, she has the inconjunct) and that means that living together will be challenging!

CHRISTOPHER
With transit Pluto inconjunct his progressed Sun the mentioned challenges have begun this year. They say that he doesn't like the media much. He will have to get used to a different lifestyle now that he married a famous person instead of that of a silent millionaire.

Above is the chart of the DOB with transits and progressions for the wedding day of Christopher O'Neill, an international (an American born in London) whose conjunction of Sun, Mercury and Saturn is square Pluto. That is for the strategic mind. Now that he marries his Swedish Princess, Progressed Sun is square Jupiter, the symbol of success and of ... the international. His progressed Venus is close to his wife's progressed Sun. That is pretty OK for the first period of their partnership!:) They met each other when it was time for love in her chart and when she drew his loving attention. (Learn about meeting each other and astrology: http://www.astromarkt.net/index.php?id=104)

It is a complicated synastry and it will probably be a relationship with some challenges. In fact, that might keep the relationship interesting and surprising, just as Venus-Uranus desires.
RESONATION
Just an observation: in his natal chart tSaturn is inconjunct Neptune. When he married Saturn was trine Neptune and both planets trined his natal Sun. Also Mars is quintile Uranus in the natal chart. Transit Uranus is trine his natal Mars now. I don't wish to speculate about the meaning of the aspects, but I want to point at the fact that important events in life are often triggered by the resonation of natal aspects by transit or progression.

Unlike royal spouses like Maxima, Christopher will not be an official member of the royal family.

Princess Diana's wedding day and the match with Charles

The late Princess of Wales was born on a July 1 and married in July. This July post is about the match between her and Charles and about their charts on their wedding day.

MATCH
It is almost amazing how little match there is between the charts of Diana and Charles of England. (On the left is the chart of Charles with the natal positions of Diana.)
Though their Suns and Moons are not in conflicting signs, there is also no harmony, like a trine would offer. There is no tight aspect between them. And Mars in Virgo is no match for Mars in Sagittarius, even if there is no tight square.  Venus in Taurus can live in peace with Venus in Libra, but they aren’t really a match. There is no major or minor aspect that links the planets. How could they have fallen in love? It was not because they ‘ matched’ and anyone could see that. If I were a match maker, would I want them to be a couple? No, not at first sight. It is no surprise that the charts don't show a couple at frst sight either.

So there must have been another attraction between them and there is. His Sun was exactly conjunct her midpoint AC/MC and that made him the center of her life and being. He was her destiny. And her Jupiter is on his Descendant. His uncle advided him to marry Diana. It didn’t make them happy together. But she gave him children. Jupiter is in his fifth house of children.

HIS CHART ON THE WEDDING DAY
He married her with transit Uranus on his progressed Venus, transit Neptune semi sextile the natal Sun and transit Chiron exactly opposition his natal Sun. Progressed Midheaven inconjunct natal Venus is completing the picture. It says: a marriage, but...(there is something wrong).

HER CHART ON THE WEDDING DAY

Diana recently had had Neptune on her Ascendant, making her insecure and shy. But she also had transit Jupiter trine Jupiter (happy period), the Sun sign changing (life style changing), the Ascendant square Jupiter and Saturn (ups and downs), Progressed Midheaven conjunct Mars (your status related to a man).
The life of Diana changed more than the life of Charles, who was used to the media, the ceremonies and the protocol.

We all know what happened next.

Famous couple: Victoria of Sweden and her Daniel

Princess Victoria of Sweden (July 14, 1977 at 9:45, source Astrotheme.fr) is about to marry a ‘ common’ young man next month, named Daniel Westling (born September 15, 1973). Daniel Westling used to be her fitness instructor. They seem to match perfectly. The wedding date might have been selected by an astrologer:). In the progressed chart for June 19, the Progressed Ascendant will be square progressed Venus. That is a classical reflection of getting married. Crown Princess Victoria (just like Willem-Alexander, next king of the Netherlands) has a prominent Sun ('calling' ) and angular Jupiter (on IC) . Here is more about the match with her fiance:

Her Sun in the 22nd degree of Cancer is sextile his in Virgo

Her Venus is biquintile his. Though their Venus are not in a matching sign and tastes and preferences may differ, they found or find a creative way to appreciate each other.

Both have Mars in Taurus and that is OK.

Her Jupiter is square his Sun and that means trust and support.

Their Moons are not matching (Aries-Cancer) and that is in line with the not matching education and family backgrounds. They will have to get used to each other's habits and traditions.

SYNASTRY
His Uranus is square her Sun and that might lead to controversy once she is the Queen (and he will be her Prince). He may be objecting against her leadership or just rebel a bit. She may be the Queen, but he also has a ‘ calling ‘ Sun: he will draw attention at any possible level. Well, he did. He will marry the country's first lady to be. And the Uranus-Sun combination between them has already done ' it's job': there was a bit of upheaval about the fact that Victoria choose to marry a ' common' man.

REPOSTED AUGUST 17 2010:
After writing this article iu May, Astrodatabank published the hour of birth of Victoria: 9:45 PM (not AM) as one of the readers pointed out (thank you, anonymous reader!). It didn't change the observations of the synastry much. But: the Moons are now in not matching signs. Together with the Uranus-Sun affliction (with a risk for enstrangement), there will (or already were) difficulties to conquer (like in most marriages).

Famous couple: Harald V and Sonja of Norway

King Harald V and Queen Sonja share a romantic love story. It took them 9 years to convince the father of Harald that he had choosen the right woman to be the next Queen of Norway. He had fallen in love with her big brown eyes from the first moment that he saw her. That is the effect of Venus in Aries. He has Venus inconjunct Neptune, so for a king to be he has a rather disproportionate romantic nature. He fell in love and didn't want nobody else, even if he tried. Let us see if they match:)

His Sun in Pisces, hers in Cancer (match)
His Moon in Cancer (perhaps conjunct hers!) match
His Moon in Cancer, hers in Taurus (match)
His Venus in Aries, hers in Taurus (no match)
His Mars in Scorpio, conjunct hers (match)
His Jupiter in Capricorn (so is hers, match!)

Synastrie:
Her Mars is trine his Ascendant.

NINE YEARS
He met his wife in 1959 when his progressed Sun was conjunct Saturn, ruler of the 7th house of the partner. Her progressed Venus was inconjunct his Mars in that year. Her progressed Mars was trine his progressed Sun and Saturn, his Venus square her progressed Sun. It was too soon, however. Because she was a commoner, it was only on August 29, 1968 that they got married. That must have been the most happy year of his life. He had progressed Moon trine Jupiter and that is the best progression a person can get. His wife had progressed Moon opposition Jupiter. And there was an aspect like in 1959: his progressed Sun and Mars were now trine her Sauturn. All is well that ends well. This year they will celebrate their 41th wedding aniversary! Added with their long 'engagement' they know each other for 50 years now and they are still together.

Wedding of Roger Federer

Top tennis player Roger Federer married Mirka Vavrinec, yesterday. The party was easy to see in the astrological picture of the sky. See the progressed chart and transits above. This post is about the transits and progressions symbolising the party. And...Roger Federer's Midheaven is in Gemini. I will mention more examples of Gemini Midheaven in the charts of those who use their arms and hands in their professions in this post.

THE PARTY
- Venus is the symbol of having fun, love and marriage. The progressed chart shows the growing situation (after development). Venus was on the cusp of the 7th house of marriage in his progressed chart.
- The Sun is the symbol of drawing attention and being in the centre of attention (like a person is on his wedding day:). The Ascendant is the symbol of a situation or presentation. The Progressed Sun was conjunct natal Ascendant.
- Jupiter is the symbol of joy, growth and progress. The progressed Sun was semi sextile Jupiter.

Venus and Jupiter together are the combination of the big party and great joy*).
To complete the party, transit Jupiter was also square the Moon.

GEMINI MIDHEAVEN
Federer's natal chart (above) has Gemini on Midheaven. I found more charts of famous sport players using their hands and arms with Gemini related to Midheaven or ruler Midheaven.

- Golf player Tiger Woods Gemini Midheaven
- Cricket player Sourav Ganguli's Gemini Midheaven
- Golf player Ballesteros ruler Midheaven (Mars) in Gemini
- Tennis player Justine Henin (born June 1, 1982 Liège Belgium at 12:30 pm) has Sun and Mercury on top of her chart, in Gemini
- Stefi Graf (born June 14, 1969 in Mannheim at 4:40 CET) has an Aquarius Midheaven. Uranus (ruler of the Midheaven) is in Virgo. And Mercury rules Virgo. Mercury is in Gemini. Mercury is the final dispositor of the Midheaven.
- The natal chart of Venus Williams (see Astrodatabank ) has Mercury conjunct the Cancer Midheaven. The Moon (ruler of Midheaven) is in Leo and the Sun (ruler of Leo) is in Gemini...

Exception:
Venus' sister Serena's Mercury is two times important: Mercury is 'calling' and Mercury is on the Desendant (but there is no Gemini influence in her chart).

Wedding Phil Collin's daughter

Yesterday Phil Collins celebrated his daughter Joeley's wedding with Stefan Buitelaar in Leiden, Holland. It was with the Moon parallax exactly opposition Venus. And is not Moon-Venus the perfect symbol of a family wedding and moments of love? What is a parralax? They can explain perfectly well on
Homepage.mac.com. I limit myself to using the parallax position.
More about the moon in general (with the funny ideas about how to behave and the colours of your dinner) can be found on my site Astromarkt.

MOON PARALLAX
I have seen more tight transits and aspects with the Moon parallax. There is a difference of maximum 1 degree between the mean Moon's position used in the ephemeris, and the Moon parallax. In my computer program there is a possibility to calculate the Moon parallax position. I found it a great tool for timing in my own chart.

ASTROLOGY CHART PHIL COLLINS: his success written in the stars...

Phil Collins has a good chart for an artist. Neptune is the oriental planet*) and we see Sun, Venus and Jupiter on the IC, angular. Mercury is end dispositor of the Midheaven routing. And there you are: an artist (Venus-Neptune) with fans (Jupiter-Neptune) and success (Sun-Jupiter-MC, Venus-Jupiter-MC), performing or drawing attention as the leader (of the band (Leo MC) with communications (using voice or writing with Mercury) dominating the process. Venus in Aquarius is a beautiful variation on the Venus-Uranus theme that I use to find in most of the natal charts of pop artists.

*) The oriental planet is the planet rising before the sun. I use to skip Mercury and Venus (the most common risers) unless they are angular or 'calling' (without major aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees). This is because most of the people want to be a writer or be an artist and few manage to work in that field, unless they have a 'call' or unless it is of vital and crucial importance for their life and carreer. In the case of Collins, Mercury is rising before the Sun, trine Saturn. Mercury does make aspects, Mercury is not angular, but Mercury (communications) is important anyway (end dispositor of the MC).
Neptune is the planet of visions, ideals, the amporpheus and arts.

Wedding Jenna Bush

Jenna Bush's Midheaven is 7d05m Scorpio. Her fathers' Ascendant is 7d07m Leo. Often, parents and children have such a 'connection' in their birth charts.

Jenna Bush was born 25th November 1981 in Dallas, at 10:05 a.m., according to Astrotheme.fr.

She got married 10th May 2008, with Henry Hager, on her fathers' ranch in Texas. Unlike Tricia Nixon, she wanted to marry without the presence of the media and not in the White House.

The marriage will probably change her life. Her progressed Sun changed sign 6 weeks ago and transit Uranus is sesquisquare the progressed MC. Also transit Pluto has been conjunct her progressed Sun.

HAPPY DAY
There are a few signs for a party!
1. Progressed Venus is square her MC (perfecting the 21st, so her chart needs little correction)
2. On her weddig day transit Venus was trine Ascendant for looking very good!
3. Also the 10th of May was a transit Sun trine Venus and Mars day!.

She selected such a perfect moment that you would almost think that she choose the date with the help of an efemeris or astrologer. But yes, sometimes astrology works just like that, too:).
