Happy Valentine! This post offers some romantic link for students of astrology. In astrology love and romance are symbolized by Venus and Neptune, but they are not always happy. Sometimes love is a battle field! Today I write about Neptune on Astropost and part of that post is about 'romance'. Neptune gives you beautiful dreams about a fantastic future (with the one you love). Famous couple: Al and Tipper Gore

There are a couple of famous couples on this blog and this time (because of the Climate Conference in Kopenhagen and Climategate) the couple is Al and Tipper Gore. They were born in the same year, 1948. He is an Aries and she is a Leo and that is a match. There is a minor hard aspect between their Suns that explains the difficulties in the relationship between Al Gore and Bill Clinton who has the same birthday as Tipper Gore (but was born 2 years earlier). As long as she doesn’t want to be the star (and that must be difficult for a Leo) their Suns match. It looks very attractive (two shining stars), but one must be leading. I would like to see them dance a quick step!:)

MUTUAL LOVE
With her Venus square his Sun and his Venus square her Sun, the mutual love and sympathy must be obvious. They really love and like each other, even though it is sometimes difficult to agree on matters of taste and style (as her Venus is semi square his). Their Mars match (his in Leo, hers in Libra) and her Jupiter is trine his Mars! That refers to reproduction (and they have children together). It is also an indication that she will support his efforts and activities.

GOING STEADY
Al Gore doesn’t have indications for a divorce in the natal chart. With Venus in Taurus and Mars in Leo (both fixed signs) it is to be expected that he goes for longlasting love (he goes steady!)..
Tipper Gore's chart has a difficult opposition between the rulers of the first and seventh house (Moon and Saturn) and between the ruler of the seventh house and Venus on the Ascendant. Venus is semi square Saturn (ruler 8). So in her chart we see possibilities for breaking up. However:
They have been married for ages now, since May 19, 1970. That is 40 years. So here you have an example of a long lasting relationship.


SUN/MOON MIDPOINT
Her Moon makes a hard aspect with his Sun/Moon midpoint.
His Sun is making a hard aspect with her Sun/Moon midpoint.

SUN-NEPTUNE
They share a conflict between Sun and Neptune (he has the opposition and she has a semi square). On Astromarkt there is an article about sharing aspects. I write about Sun-Neptune:

Sun and Neptune shared in aspect gives you shared ideals, dreams and faith or even a shared idol! But with hard aspects you might share the same disillusions as well or this relationship is disillusive. Cooperating could work out best in an asylum or in a non-profit organization where they can help others, and each other.
Another possible combination is between enemies and with Sun in hard aspect with Neptune shared. Ideology stand between you as was the case with the murderer of director Theo van Gogh who shared Sun square Neptune with his victim.

I read that they go to church each Sunday (if possible). Neptune is the symbol of ideology and religion. Perhaps the issue of sharing the same ideals is a hot item for the relationship. Life is not always a dream, but you can at least try to realise yours...perhaps that is the general idea of Sun-Neptune here.

AND?
Is it a perfect match? Is or was it always a perfect marriage? Will it last till they die? I don’t know. But I do know that they love each other and that they have a strong sense of belonging together. Of course, that is why they ARE officially married and together still!:)

The idol Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston

Sharing a man, sharing an aspect...The charts of rivals in love often have much in common. It may not be much of a surprise, when you are living with the same man or woman for a while and your names seem to be linked forever. But it is surprising that it is so clearly visible in the love triangle Pitt-Jolie-Aniston.
The famous three are united in their -past- love for each other. Angelina Jolie married Brad Pitt, but Jennifer Aniston was his first wife. This love triangle was in the news today. Jolie now says that she and Brad Pitt fell in love when he was still married with Jennifer Aniston.

Here you see the link between their charts and their divorce. In short:
1. their charts are connected by Sun-Neptune aspects
2. their charts are connected by Sun-Uranus aspects
3. Aniston and Pitt shared Venus-Jupiter (and her Venus is opposition Jupiter)
4. Jolie and Pitt share Venus-Uranus (both have Venus-Uranus conflicts)

SHARING AN IDOL AND SUN-NEPTUNE
Angelina's Sun is quindecile (165 degrees) Jennifer's Neptune. Jennifer's Sun is quintile (72d) Angelina's Sun. Aniston's Sun is square Neptune; Jolie's Sun is opposition Neptune. They share an aspect that is not uncommon in the charts of actors: the aspect of a sort of a double life. They are not what you think you see. In my article on Astromarkt about sharing aspects I wrote this about sharing Sun-Neptune:

THE PERFECT WRONG MAN: ANOTHER ISSUE
That is what Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston share: Brad Pitt and Sun in a hard aspect with Uranus. Pitt has Sun quindecile 105 degrees Uranus. A perfect match! He is the wrong man and they want him:).


RELATIONSHIP PITT-ANISTON
Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston did not match much. Their sun signs matched, but their moons did not and though his Venus was sextile her Mars, his Mars was square her Venus. There was passion. But Jennifer Aniston has Sun square Mars and Mars inconjunct Saturn in her chart and those are two of the four indications for a divorce in the chart of a female (the others are Sun-Uranus and Venus-Uranus). As it was her first marriage, it was likely that there would be a divorce, in particular in her social environment. Also notice Saturn on the descendant of Aniston's chart and the sesquisquare between rulers 1 and 7: Venus and Mars. Those are exactly the planets of importance in their synastry!

What he shares with Jennifer Aniston is Venus-Jupiter. She has the opposition (expecting too much of marriage and love) and he has the quindecile 75 degree aspect.

This marriage was a passionate one, but as both expected too much of it, and both could have more than one marriage (and this was their first...)....it ended.

RELATIONSHIP PITT-JOLIE: MARS SQUARE MARS
Aniston and Jolie share Sun-Neptune and see: Sun opposition Neptune of Jolie is on the horizon of Brad Pitt's chart. There is a link, as to be expected.
Jolie and Pitt do not match much. Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus and Mars are in conflicting signs. And the tightest conflict is that of Mars square Mars. I have seen that before: McCartney-Mills, Mars inconjunct Mars. And Van Basten-Van Nistelrooij: Mars square Mars. Fire! And it is only to be wished that they keep it in control.

What Jolie and Pitt share is Venus-Uranus. She has the square, he has the sesquisquare. They will love excitement and changes. Probably that is why they are moving around the world so much. As long as they keep moving and keep the fire in control, this relationship will continue. But will it last forever? With so many children, let us hope so...


BRAD PITT
The subject of their adoration and love is Brad Pitt. He is the guy with Moon conjunct Venus (attractive for women) and he is the guy with Gemini on cusp 7: for more than one relationship, maybe at the same time. Mars-Uranus-conflicts are not helpful in marriage, in the chart of a male, but Pitt has Mars trine Uranus. Maybe that makes him good at switching. Notice the cool Moon and Venus and the conflict between Jupiter ruler ASC and Mercury ruler DESC (translated light by Mars and Pluto) and you see that there is a potential for divorce.

Neptune, romance and tragedy

Love, love, love, all we need is ...(well, I like chocolate, too:)

Love is a hot item. It seems everybody is looking for the perfect match and nobody wants to have romantic failures, suicide out of grieve or having to wait (in abstinence, of course) till age 70 to be together again. It is now or never! Neptune is under valuated:) Is that so?

Let me introduce you into the world of romantic love. Once upon a time there was a poet in my country (Herman Gorter) who wrote a very impressive poem about the death of a female friend. It was called 'In the black night' and it describes the way she died, drowning herself. I cannot fully translate it, but I will give an impression of the sentences that I like most of all. You know, I just love poems and their emotional impact:)!

In the black night
a human being came
the black nightly clouds drifted
the black nightly trees bended
and the wind blew, heavy and wearing black mourning clothes

she was standing, very still
and the tree, born long ago,
had guessed it by then -
and the wind and the clouds stood still

Wow, that is romance. Herman was a friend of the family and he was struck by the death of the young singer, Anna Witsen, on March 5, 1889. She threw herself into the water, because of grieve out of love for a married man. And I have her chart.


She was born February 3, 1855 at 11:00 LMT in Amsterdam, the sister of a painter. She was talented and well known. Venus was high up in her chart, Jupiter was oriental. You can easily see the drama in her chart:

1 Passion!
Venus conjunct Mars (for passion) square Moon and Ascendant (unusual passionate behavior)
2. Emotion!
Prominent Moon in Leo, tightly square Ascendant, with only oppositions (for the troublesome drama queen; that was perfect on stage, less welcome at home…)

Please consider the period in time (the ROMANTIC period) and the position of women (who should not be involved with married men, if they ever wished to be married themselves).And who knows, maybe she was pregnant.

SATURN AND NEPTUNE
On March 5, 1889, the ticking biological clock in the shape of Saturn was opposition her natal Sun and inconjunct Neptune. (Do we see something sick, sad and ill?)
Neptune was of importance that day. Her natal sun was semi sextile Neptune. And there was transit Sun conjunct Neptune that day, to activate the issue. And yes, transit Neptune was also square her progressed Midheaven for the illusions.

It is unusual 'romance', even for the romantic 19th century. Her tragic death inspired one of Holland’s' best poets and that is why I posted it. Her Neptune was trine his MC**). Suicide may be a source of inspiration, but for most of us, the ultimate effect of a sad Neptune can be missed, like tooth ache!

PS In the chart of Anna, Venus-Mars is 75 degrees from Uranus, adding a sort of an obsession or compulsion to the passion (and maybe this is relating the passion to an impulse?).

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie

Rumours say that the marriage of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie is in a difficult period right now. Newspapers say that Angelina Jolie caught Brad Pitt with a nanny. There are other rumours, too: about the couple getting married!

NEPTUNE (desillusion, gossip and isolation)
Right now, Neptune is close to the progressed Descendant of Jolie and at the same time close to the Ascendant of Brad Pitt. Neptune was also opposition MC in his solar return chart. Neptune is his oriental planet, so very important. Neptune often confuses and causes desillusion or isolation. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are living apart right now because of their jobs (making movies in different places).
The other side is, that Neptune causes gossip too:) Sometimes it is amazing how newspapers and magazines manage to know exactly what Brad Pitt told Angelina Jolie...

MARS SQUARE MARS (cooperating or ...fighting each other)
The reported fuss and anger are not surprising, however. Her Mars is exactly square his Mars. I have seen that before. It was so in the charts of Woody Allen and Mia Farrow, see the post with links to the charts of other examples, like:
- Paul McCartney and Heather Mills with Mars inconjunct Mars
- Ike and Tina Turner with Mars square Mars
- Diana and Dodi, with Mars square Mars
- Andrew and Sarah, also Mars square Mars

It is clear that when Mars in a man meets Mars in a woman there is sexual attraction and competition (very stimulating when you are working together, although there may be a differant approach and method). But Mars is also the planet of aggression and anger...

The conflict between Mars and Mars is not the only astrological conflict. There are more difficulties to overcome in this relationships. For example, his Mercury square her Saturn, that will not make communications easier. Or his Pluto inconjunct her Moon, stressing the domestic situation that she needs. Mercury opposition Uranus on the horizon of the composite chart speaks of differences in opinion.

PS
Jolie's Venus square Uranus, ruler 1 square ruler 7 and Sun sesquisquare Uranus aren't exactly signs for a 'living happily ever after'. She divorced twice!
Brad Pitt is an atractive man. He has Moon conjunct Venus; he likes women. He has Venus sesquisquare Uranus for 'adventures' related to women. And there is that unaspected Sun in 1, drawing attraction at any level. And a romantic Neptune rising before the Sun. It won't be easy to be a faithful father under those circumstances. He divorced Jennifer Aniston.

Madonna and Guy Ritchie

It seems that Madonna (16th August 1958, Bay City, 7:05 a.m.) and Guy Ritchie (September, 10, 1968, Hatfield, time unknown) are not having the most pleasant time of their relationship. Madonna has difficult transits like Uranus inconjunct Sun (not matching will to be independant) and Pluto inconjunct Venus (test for a relationship) and sesquisquare Mars (all in all a difficulty in passion) right now. And the inconjunction is known for ending things. So th e press might be right.
Guy has Transit Uranus inconjunct Mars. I have indicated here before, that Mars-Uranus conflicts are causing trouble in relationships in the birth charts of males. And in their transits. In the charts of females Mars-Uranus might (not necessarily!) indicate the 'wrong' man, sometimes a relationship with a gay man.

What made the couple come together and what is the problem?
His Mars is almost exactly conjunct her Sun. She is the boss.
Her Saturn is square his Sun. She is older.
His Neptune is square her Sun: she is his 'muse', his inspiration.

It does not mean that any relation with an elderly woman is born to die. It means that in THIS situation and relationship it is a possible problem.

Right now, her progressed Sun is in the middle of his Mercury and Venus. His progressed Mars is almost conjunct his Sun and...her Jupiter! It doesnot sound too bad, I am afraid. However: if this is Guy Ritchie first longlasting relationship, their might be trouble. Because he has Moon conjunct Saturn and Venus semi square Neptune (for the artist and for love affairs). Two of the four indications for breaking up!*)


*) The others are Moon afflicted by Neptune and Mars in conflict with Uranus.

PS: What I forgot to mention is the match between them. There is little. The Suns and Moons do not match, neither does Mercury. Venus matches Venus (something had to match, or else they would not have started their relationship). But there is also a wide square between Mars and Mars. Often such a relationship starts with sexual attraction and ends up fighting each other.
