Sun/Moon midpoint synastry

The Sun/Moon midpoint is an important midpoint. Not just in your natal chart, where the Sun/Moon midpoint is highlighting the most important ability or issue in our life. It is also important in your progressed chart. Sun/Moon is very important for a relationship. Any planet of a partner that is in aspect with the midpoint Sun/Moon is creating a strong sense of 'to belong to a person'. A famous example is Queen Victoria. Her Sun/Moon in Gemini is exactly square the Sun of her husband Albert. They had 9 children together and she never stopped mourning his early death.
I have a Sun/Moon midpoint square my husband's Sun, too and I know of others who do. More examples:

Her Mars square his Sun/Moon (Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt)
Her Mars square his Sun/Moon (Eva Braun and Hitler)
Her Mars semi square his Sun/Moon (Jackie and John F. Kennedy)

His Venus conjunct her Sun/Moon (John and Jackie Kennedy)
His Venus conjucnt her Sun/Moon (Jenifer Aniston and Brad Pitt)

His Sun, her Sun/Moon (Victoria and Albert, see the charts)
His Sun sesquisquare her Sun/Moon (Onassis and Jackie)

Her Saturn square his Sun/Moon (Queen Juliana and Prince Bernhard, living separately during many years after about 18 years of marriage)

The Sun/Moon midpoint requires an hour of birth. The position at Noon may be 7 degrees away from the real position of the Moon in a natal chart.
The Sun/Moon midpoint is the equavalent of (Sun + Moon)/2. Of course, to calculate this you need to use the degrees of the 360 degree circle. A Sun in the 10th degree of Taurus is at 40 degrees, a Moon in the 20th degree of Libra is in the 200th degree. The midpoint Sun/Moon of this example combination is at 120 degree (zero Leo).

Famous couples: Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson

Edward VIII (the later Duke of Windsor) abdicated to be able to marry the twice divorced Wallis Simpson. That is true love, isn't it? Let us see their charts and let us see if they really matched. In the end maybe your conclusion will be the same: they rebelled together and they strongly felt that they belonged together. The mutual Sun/Moon midpoint aspects with Jupiter and Ascendant and the shared 'calling' and elevated Uranus ruler 1 are clear about that.

EDWARD
Edward VIII has the following Astro ID:
- Jupiter rises before the Sun (the international, traveling) ; he lived part of his life in France.
- Juno (symbol of marriage) is positioned on top of his chart
- Uranus doesn't make major aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees. This 'calling' Uranus is reflecting the upheaval and the important change in his life. As Uranus rules the first house and is placed in the equal 10th house, the change is likely to occur in the field of status, position and family ranking.

His abdication came right after progressed Pluto inconjunct Uranus. Pluto and Uranus together imply a dramatic change. The inconjunction adds ‘giving up on something, loss’ to this meaning. Transit Uranus was inconjunct natal Midheaven, showing the change (with a loss) while transit Neptune was inconjunct his Ascendant, showing the disproportionate sacrifice.

A romantic nature is attributed to the Moon in Pisces. But Edward VIII had Mars exactly on Aries Point. So he could be sharp, too. And perhaps Jupiter in the equal fifth house (same position as in the chart of Catherina the Great – who had so many lovers) shows us why there was concern about his ‘womazing’ before he met mrs. Simpson.

WALLIS
Wallis Simpson:
- Uranus is the elevated planet, ruler of the first house and in the 10th equal house (public upheaval, change in position) and Uranus doesn't make major aspects. Just like in the chart of her husband Edward, Uranus is 'calling'. Together they 'rebelled'...
- Neptune is rising before the Sun (a romantic dreamer in the first place) and in aspect with Sun/Moon and AC/MC. Romance motivates her and is the key motive in her life!
- Her Sun square Aries Point doesn't make aspects: she will draw attention at any possible level.
- Mercury is conjunct Neptune, perhaps she was misunderstood or she really was hiding some facts. In any case, she was in fact mistrusted. They thought that she was after the money of Edward and didn't really love him.

There were indications for possible divorce in her chart:
Sun 67.5 degrees Mars (sesquisemisquare Sun-Mars)
Venus inconjunct Uranus (orb 3 degrees, however)
Neptune trine Ascendant (romantic/seductive attitude)
Mars inconjunct Uranus might indicate the 'wrong man'

In the days of her later husband's abdication (December 10, 1936) her progressed Midheaven was inconjunct Pluto, illustrating the lost of power, influence and money and the disproportionate influence of politics on her developing position. They married June 3, 1937. But did they match?

THE MATCH
Their Suns didn't match (hers in Gemini, his in Cancer) but as they were not far apart (only 3.3 degrees) they joined lifestyle and lives.

Their Moons didn't match either (hers in Libra, his in Pisces), an understandable reflection of the difference in upbringing, family style and habits. The Moons are sesquisquare, symbol of the frustrations that it must have given them both.

Their Mercury's didn't match.

Her Venus is semi sextile his. No match.

Her Mars is in Aries and so is his. But...they are a half semi square apart! It means that they were attracted to each other, and that they quarreled too.

SHARED ASPECTS
They share the same Ascendant in Aquarius and both had Uranus elevated and 'calling'. Were they just joining forces to withstand rules and regulations, I wonder. Where is the 'luv'? Why this sacrifice? And was it?

SUN/MOON: BELONGING TOGETHER
I noticed that her Jupiter, Chiron and Ascendant are in hard aspect with his Sun/Moon midpoint. His Venus, Jupiter, Chiron and Ascendant were in hard aspect with HER Sun/Moon midpoint. That can be read as follows: they had a strong feeling that they belonged together. It is exceptional that Jupiter, Chiron and Ascendant on both sides are in aspect with Sun/Moon! They must have made each other happy.

SACRIFICE, DESIRE OR FAITH?
Edward had Sun inconjunct Midheaven and Jupiter quindecile Midheaven. Jupiter and Sun connections are not uncommon for a member of the 'royalty', who is being protected and guided throughout life. But he also had duties, symbolized by Saturn semi square MC. The semi square reveals that the job's responsibilities may have frustrated him or we should belief in predicted faith and see it as an indication of stepping back later. The Moon in Pisces, square Midheaven, reflects the influence of romantic feelings on his career. Mars quintile Neptune (a creative way to give up on a job)? Read Astropost about the Queen Mum, whome he referred to as 'Queen' long before he abdicated...

SO...
They may not have been 'made for each other' but when they married they at least liked each other*)and they certainly felt that they belonged together.
The tigh trine between Sun and Saturn in their composite chart kept them together. This aspect draws attention. Wallis Simpson had Sun sesquisquare Saturn. Edward VIII had Sun in a 105-degree aspect with Saturn. They shared restrictions (they were never officially accepted) and perhaps that created the first unbreakable bond for mrs. Simpson...

*) His progressed Venus was opposition her progressed MC and her progressed Venus was close to his progressed Sun in those days.

Marriage and the other woman of Ferrari

Today I saw a (romantic) documentary about the life of Enzo Ferrari, born 18 February 1898 (official date 20 February, but that was because it took his father 2 days to announce his birth) It was at 3 a.m. in beautiful Modena, Italy, the place were the Ferrari factory still is. He built the most beautiful car in the world. His chart is showing the successes and the bad moments in his life…

YOUTH
His youth wasn’t a happy one. His parents preferred his elderly brother. This is very typical of Saturn on the Ascendant. It is as if from the very start you had a disadvantage or a handicap. But there is another side of it and that is that he was a very serious and ambitious person and rather reserved himself. The picture in the chart shows him with dark glasses on and they seem to have been on very often. He did not like to show his feelings. There are several indications for hiding feelings: Moon in Capricorn (calling!), Saturn on the Ascendant and Neptune opposition Ascendant. In the documentary they make him say that the fact that he did not show emotions did not mean that he did not have them. But notice the lack of placements in water signs and the cool Moon and you will see that it was at least difficult to deal with emotions…

THE DREAM STARTS
In the documentary he is 10 years old when he sees the first car in his life and starts dreaming. His father got ill and died not very long afterwards. And see how astrology matches with history! At age 10 he had progressed Sun inconjunct Jupiter and progressed Midheaven was trine Neptune. This symbolizes the disproportional self confidence that he had and the dream (Neptune) that easily (trine) influenced his career (Midheaven). The progressed inconjunction also shows us that he won a race by wooden car without engineJ, beating his elderly brother. He won, but (inconjunct Jupiter in the 3rd house...). The 'but' was that this moment intensified the bad relationship that he had with his brother. He also had progressed Moon trine Jupiter in those days and that is the best progressed aspect a person can get. This was the moment that he started dreaming about being a racer in the future.

CONFIDENCE
He always strongly believed that he would be rich and famous one day. Notice that Jupiter (ruler 1) is on the Midheaven trine Pluto on the descendant: Jupiter and Pluto are prominent in this chart! That reflects a lot of confidence and success as a result of that and all this in a prominent way! He was born to be a success. Mercury is opposition Jupiter/Pluto and conjunct Sun/Moon to express that he was great at convincing others (to invest in his dream). Uranus is also related to Sun/Moon and to Ascendant/MC: he was all in all a technician, innovative, an engineer.

DEATH AND SATURN AND PLUTO
Enzo Ferrari did not have placements in water signs and there is a calling Moon (a moon without major aspects) in Capricorn. He had 70% of his placements in air signs. This combination makes him a thinker and a communicator with sentiments at any possible level, but always in control (in Capricorn). In the documentary that lack of showing emotions is explained in the moment of the death of his father, who tells him not to cry. I almost forgot to mention: progressed Sun square Saturn and later square Pluto for the period after the death of his father. This Saturn and Pluto square comes back in times of death. In the First World War (1914-1918) his brother died and he broke his own arm to escape the front lines. Notice that the progressed Mercury is square Saturn and Pluto in 1917. And when his son Dino died in 1956 he had progressed Moon square Saturn and Pluto. Dino was born 29 January 1932 (progressed Sun trine Uranus), when he already had started the long lasting relationship with Lina.
Saturn is opposition Pluto in his chart and both are angular. That is why progressive aspects with Saturn and Pluto mark important painful goodbye’s in his life. Saturn-Pluto conflicts symbolize hard confrontations, intense ambition and the price you pay for that...

FACTS
In 1948 he founded the Formula 1 team of Ferrari (Scuderia Ferrari). That was when his progressed Midheaven changed sign. In 1929 (with progressed Midheaven inconjunct Pluto) he had already founded Scuderia Ferrari but then he worked with Alfa Romeo. Only after the 2nd World War he was allowed to use the name Scuderia Ferrari for his own team.

Enzo Ferrari was more often in the company of his friends and the racing team than with his wife Laura. Later he had a mistress (Lina). The son born out of the relationship with Lina on 22 May 1944 is now 15% owner of Ferrari. His name is Piero Ferrari.

PROMINENCE
Back to Enzo: he had an oriental Mars, Jupiter on the Midheaven, Uranus in aspect with Sun/Moon and ASC/MC, Mercury on Sun/Moon, Neptune and Pluto were on either side of the horizon and just as crucial was Saturn (conjunct Ascendant). The Moon was calling! There is almost no object in this chart that does not have a special place. Only the Sun and Venus and they are 'rushing into Pisces' but still in Aquarius as if reflecting the technical visionary. With so many prominent placements he was bound to be special. With Jupiter and Pluto angular he had enough confidence, too. And there were more then 10 midpoint combinations in the 22.5 degree range to support the statement of success in his chart, for example with Mars square Jupiter/Uranus. That is an excellent combination for an inventor.

DISCRETION: NEPTUNE+PLUTO
I like to mention Neptune in the 7th house and the Neptune/Pluto combination with the Descendant, pointing at the secret relationship with Lina. In those days in Italy divorce was not easy and in the first half of the last century living with a married man was scandalous. The Moon in Capricorn kept him with his wife and Venus in Aquarius and square Uranus (out of sign) provided the adventurous 'free' love with Lina.

HIS DEATH
When he died transit Jupiter was exactly opposition his Uranus (read about this aspect and death) and as Uranus was related to Sun/Moon and ASC/MC, Jupiter was also in aspect with the cross of the chart and the cross point of the lights.

Silvio Berlusconi and Veronica Lario

Silvio Berlusconi and Veronica Lario (pseudo for Miriam Raffaella Bartolini) married on December 15, 1990 (when their Sun sign changed in progression and so did their lives! See the progressed chart below). They have 3 children together, the first one born in 1984. They know each other from the 80s, it is a long lasting relationship.

Veronica seems to communicate with Silvio by means of public letters. In the last one she said that she and her family are the victims of the shameless flirtations of her husband. Silvio Berlusconi chooses 'Misses' to join his government, lately. This post is about the question: Do they match? The answer is NO. So why did they get married? And stay married...
Yes, he impressed her (his Pluto is conjunct her Sun in the seventh house). And: he gave her children (his Mars conjunct her Jupiter). His Moon is trine her Midheaven and his Jupiter is parallel her Ascendant. Those are pleasant indications for supporting her and caring for her position in life. But generally: they don't make a match.

NO MATCHES
See this list:

Her Sun is in Cancer, his in Libra.
Her Moon is in Sagittarius, his in Pisces
Her Venus is in Gemini, his in Scorpio
Her Mars is in Pisces, his in Virgo
His Jupiter is in Sagittarius, hers in Virgo
Her Ascendant is in Capricorn, his in Libra

Those signs are not naturally understanding each other. See the post about matching signs.... The good thing is that those conflicting positions don't make hard aspects because the orb is too wide.

TO DIVORCE OR TO STAY MARRIED
With so many NOT matching signs, one wonders what brought them together and why they don't divorce. His chart is reflecting a slight potential for divorce (Moon in Pisces in a wide opposition Neptune). Her chart no potential for divorce, but is reflecting upheavel and 'flashlight' in the relationship (Uranus in the seventh house, semisesquisquare Sun/Moon). Does that mean that they have to stay married till ever after, even though they don't match? Perhaps, because they are Roman Catholics. They may not live in one house (and that is very possible with conflicting Moons), but they won't easily get divorced. Besides: on cusp 7 (the house of marriage) Berlusconi has Taurus (and that is one of the signs involved in the pattern of long lasting relationships, see that post).

WHAT THEY SHARE
Sometimes people are involved because they share the same kind of ideas, ways of life, experiences or goals, symbolized by having the same (kind of) aspects between two planets or lights. I have written about that on Astromarkt.
Let us have a look at the aspects to see what they share. They share:

Sun conjunct Mercury (for subjective ideas and thinking of themselves)
Moon in aspect with Neptune (she has Moon sextile Neptune; for romantic/idealistic needs or habits or being sensitive and empathic for each other)
Venus in aspect with Mars (for passion)
Ascendant in aspect with Ceres (he sextile, she square)

STRONG CONNECTIONS IN MIDPOINTS
How is it possible that those aspects kept them together? Ceres! I will explain that later in this post. And:

a. His Venus, Mercury, Jupiter and Saturn are in hard aspect (in the 22.5 d range) with her Sun/Moon midpoint.
b. His Pluto is sesquisquare her ASC/MC, his Moon square her ASC/MC and his Sun is sesquisemisquare her ASC/MC.
c. Venus is elevated in the composite chart

That means that love is above all uniting them and that there is a very strong crucial and powerful connection. It would be hard, if not impossible, to finish this marriage. The midpoint connection of her Sun/Moon with four of his positions shows that he represents family life in her eyes in more than one way.

CERES
Charts should always been read with the cultural backgrounds in mind. But in this case there is even more reason to do so. They both have Ceres in aspect with the Ascendant. Roots, genes and the basics of life (nurture for example) are very important for them. Her Ceres, the symbol of motherly love, is at a crucial spot in the chart, below. All that Ceres symbolizes may have been the cement that kept them together. I think tradition is one of those items.

This time however, there are difficulties for both.

SEPARATING TIMES
Lately Veronica had transit Saturn square her progressed Sun. She will have another transit of Saturn this summer. She also has transit Pluto is square her progressed Ascendant. Transit Neptune is inconjunct her Sun and Mercury. It is obvious that she is not in most favorable circumstances. She is down, depressed and ashamed. She means what she writes. Saturn's transit might even cause separation and distance.
But there is good news for her. The progressed Moon and Midheaven are to make aspects with Jupiter this year and progressed Venus is soon to be conjunct Uranus. Perhaps that brings her luck or fun.

Silvio Berlusconi had transit Saturn square progressed Sun, too, lately and this summer he will face another square. Times are hard and his mistakes come to the light. By means of his wife, because in the progressed chart they share transit Saturn square Sun right now. The nasty sides of life are being highlighted.

It is clear that people can have long lasting relationships even if they don't really seem to 'match'. Sometimes people have other reasons to get 'connected'. I like the quintile between her Mercury and his...She sure found a creative way to communicate with the owner of so many newspapers: in a public paper that he does not own:).

Famous couple: Brigitte Bardot and Roger Vadim

When I wrote about the charts of beautiful women I forgot to mention one of the most well known symbols of female attraction: Brigitte Bardot. Brigitte is a Libra with it’s ruler Venus in a wide sextile with Pluto and inconjunct Saturn. That is in line with the Venus-Saturn-Pluto combinations that I found in the charts of other beauties. It hurts to remain beautiful:).

Here is the chart of the ‘star’, born with an unaspected Sun. This ‘calling’  Sun symbolizes drawing attention (performance and show). The Sun makes a minor aspect with Neptune (22.5 degree half semi square). Sun-Neptune combinations (see Astromarkt) are not uncommon in the charts of actors, animal lovers and those with a ‘double identity’, like actors have. They are idols and not always who we think that they are.
Chart of Brigitte Bardot and in green the natal positions of Roger Vadim

ROGER
She married Roger Vadim, the man who brought her to fame, when she was only 18. They stayed together for 5 years and then divorced. That is interesting, because their sun signs were a match (5th degree Libra – 5th degree Aquarius)! So what is it that ended their relationship anyway?

1. Their moon signs didn’t match (Gemini and Pisces)
2. Neither did their Venus positions (Virgo and Sagittarius)
3. Her fiery Mars in Leo was no match for the controlled Mars in Capricorn of Vadim.
4. He may have idolized her (his Neptune semi square her Midheaven) and when it comes to reality, Neptune fades away...
5. His Pluto inconjunct her Ascendant might be a difficult aspect to handle.

Maybe this all was too complicated, even though there are a lot of aspects with her Ascendant. For example: his Juno was square her Ascendant (she might have been the perfect woman for him at first sight) and his Sedna (symbol of the daughter, young woman) was trine her Ascendant. He may have idolized her (his Neptune semi square her Midheaven). Perhaps that is why the movie that he directed was named 'And God created women'.

There were too many obstacles and there was not enough love (Venus) to compensate for that. Vadim married more than once. Moon square Saturn and Mars square Uranus are two of the indications for divorce in a man’s chart. Bardot has Mars opposition Saturn and a double bodied sign on the seventh house cusp to illustrate the risk of divorce or separation. She married three times. She is now still married with number three, a right conservative politician.

ACTING
What in her chart characterizes her as an actress? First let us see the circumstances and situation when she started. She was born rich and beautiful and had the chance to be seen in places where the rich and famous had their holidays. In those circumstances she drew attention (Sun is ‘calling’). She was orientated on the non-material side of life (ideals, faith or fantasy). The important Moon opposition Ascendant tells us about attraction and sense of what the people want and need. The prominence of Sun and Moon show the prominence of motivation. She is a star (Sun) and popular (Moon). The midpoint Sun/Moon = Node (that means that the community, family or groups motivate her).

The Moon is square Neptune (for sensitivity) and sesquisquare Jupiter (for the need for success)…Moon with Jupiter and Neptune helps you get fans and followers. The Moon is also semi square Pluto. Jupiter-Pluto combinations are indicative for success. Her popularity is evident. The Moon in Gemini (feeling young forever) appealed to the public.

It is clearly the picture of a popular star. The pattern of artistic professional talent is like this:
Venus and Neptune rising before the Libra Sun, a Libra MC and a Moon square Neptune. Midheaven completes the pattern (Venus half semi square Midheaven, Midheaven in aspect with Moon and Neptune).
Her professional activities where in the artistic field. She was (and is still) very photogenic.

Famous couple: Al and Tipper Gore

There are a couple of famous couples on this blog and this time (because of the Climate Conference in Kopenhagen and Climategate) the couple is Al and Tipper Gore. They were born in the same year, 1948. He is an Aries and she is a Leo and that is a match. There is a minor hard aspect between their Suns that explains the difficulties in the relationship between Al Gore and Bill Clinton who has the same birthday as Tipper Gore (but was born 2 years earlier). As long as she doesn’t want to be the star (and that must be difficult for a Leo) their Suns match. It looks very attractive (two shining stars), but one must be leading. I would like to see them dance a quick step!:)

MUTUAL LOVE
With her Venus square his Sun and his Venus square her Sun, the mutual love and sympathy must be obvious. They really love and like each other, even though it is sometimes difficult to agree on matters of taste and style (as her Venus is semi square his). Their Mars match (his in Leo, hers in Libra) and her Jupiter is trine his Mars! That refers to reproduction (and they have children together). It is also an indication that she will support his efforts and activities.

GOING STEADY
Al Gore doesn’t have indications for a divorce in the natal chart. With Venus in Taurus and Mars in Leo (both fixed signs) it is to be expected that he goes for longlasting love (he goes steady!)..
Tipper Gore's chart has a difficult opposition between the rulers of the first and seventh house (Moon and Saturn) and between the ruler of the seventh house and Venus on the Ascendant. Venus is semi square Saturn (ruler 8). So in her chart we see possibilities for breaking up. However:
They have been married for ages now, since May 19, 1970. That is 40 years. So here you have an example of a long lasting relationship.

SUN/MOON MIDPOINT
Her Moon makes a hard aspect with his Sun/Moon midpoint.
His Sun is making a hard aspect with her Sun/Moon midpoint.
That produces a strong sense of ‘ belonging’ to each other. (Click the label Sun/Moon for more...)

SUN-NEPTUNE
They share a conflict between Sun and Neptune (he has the opposition and she has a semi square). On Astromarkt there is an article about sharing aspects. I write about Sun-Neptune:

Sun and Neptune shared in aspect gives you shared ideals, dreams and faith or even a shared idol! But with hard aspects you might share the same disillusions as well or this relationship is disillusive. Cooperating could work out best in an asylum or in a non-profit organization where they can help others, and each other.
Another possible combination is between enemies and with Sun in hard aspect with Neptune shared. Ideology stand between you as was the case with the murderer of director Theo van Gogh who shared Sun square Neptune with his victim.

I read that they go to church each Sunday (if possible). Neptune is the symbol of ideology and religion. Perhaps the issue of sharing the same ideals is a hot item for the relationship. Life is not always a dream, but you can at least try to realise yours...perhaps that is the general idea of Sun-Neptune here.

AND?
Is it a perfect match? Is or was it always a perfect marriage? Will it last till they die? I don’t know. But I do know that they love each other and that they have a strong sense of belonging together. Of course, that is why they ARE officially married and together still!:)

A mortal marriage: Louis and Hélène Althusser

Louis Althusser and his wife Hélène, marxist intellectuals, had a difficult relationship that lasted until he killed her. What do the charts say about the relationship of this famous couple?

In short: they clicked, they didn't see each other clearly and it was a painful relationship with strong ties of a ideological couple with more than one shared experience or characteristic. It was a marriage strongly defined by the eventually destructive ailment of the husband.

MATCH: OK
How was the match? Surprisingly good. Look at the chart of Hélène with the transits of the day of birth of her husband and later killer:

- Sun conjunct Sun is for joined life style, joined ways of living and living together as one, tightly. They were a bit of the same kind.
In this case that was very difficult, because Althusser had problems accepting himself. So how could he accept his alter ego or the one in the mirror?

- Venus conjunct Venus should mirror joined sympathies and preferences, loving each other. The story says, however, that they argued about almost everything, like buying clothes. Maybe that WAS because they used to feel at ease with each other.

- Their Moon signs didn't match (Pisces and Aquarius), so they had different needs, habits and backgrounds. It wasn't easy to share the same house.

- It was easier to share the same bed, perhaps. Mars is sextile Mars and that is a match.

They 'clicked', mostly.

STRANGE SYNASTRY
Her midpoint Sun/Moon is square his Chiron. There is hurt and pain related to the marriage. He hurt her all the time and maybe  she hurt him, too. It seems to have been part of the deal. On http://www.edwardfox.f2s.com/althusser1.html they quote a friend saying that they were both the knife and the wound to each other.

His Neptune is quindecile her Ascendant and that is a rare and nasty coincidence that creates a confusing situation. His Sun is quintile Neptune, and that is creating confusion anyway.

Her Neptune and Uranus are square his Sun and in her natal chart the Sun is square Uranus and Neptune, too. Perhaps she wanted to be blind for what she saw (for example, when he flirted with others). Maybe they never really saw each other as they really were.

One of the most important aspects of the relationship is his Saturn conjunct her Ascendant. There also was a sort of tendency to control or limit Helene (Saturn-Ascendant) and she respected him. There was an age difference (she was older). In the end, he ended her life. Saturn-Ascendant relationships tend to last long, sometimes because the Saturn person doesn't let the Ascendant person go…

All in all they clicked (but they had different habits). She idolized him and he mesmerized her. And she was motivated and attracted by his pain and by him hurting her? (Chiron*) Also, it  was a relationship based on guilt or responsibility, with an age difference.

NO DIVORCE
Why didn't they file for divorce? I think that it is because of the fact that they both had not enough aspects related to divorce. His Moon opposition Saturn is only one of the 4 indications of divorce in a male's chart. Her Sun conjunct Mars is wide, but she has Sun square Uranus, tightly. They were more than adult when they met, so apparently they had a hard time finding a partner. When he started to have fans and followers, there was enough choice. Or am I cynical?

SHARED ASPECTS
When people share aspects, they share the same experiences or characteristics. For example, when you had a hard time in love (Venus-Saturn) and your partner, too, you are likely to stick together in order to avoid more pain.
  • THE HIDDEN SHARED VENUS-SATURN
You know that Venus - Saturn makes you stick like glue to marriage, because of obligations, the mortgage, parenthood or other feelings of responsibility or guilt.
Helen has a minor aspect between Venus and Saturn: 157.5 degrees (sesquisquare + half semi square).
Louis has the semi square.

They shared Venus-Saturn. Quoting myself (http://www.astromarkt.net/sharing-aspects.html ):
Venus-Saturn: staying together as long as possible because love is a serious thing. And if you break up (possible with conflicts and supported by more indications) the pain is long felt.
He was never true to her. He seduced women in front of her, just to hurt or punish her. But she didn't leave him. I think that Hélène's Moon inconjunct Venus shows an almost desperate need to be loved that eventually cost her her life (as Venus is ruler 8th house of life and death.
  • SHARING SUN-URANUS
She had Sun square Uranus
He had Sun trine Uranus
It means that their relationship had an unusual start and that there was excitement and tension between them. It seems that she  was his first sex partner.
  • SHARING SUN-NEPTUNE
She has Sun square Neptune
He had Sun quintile Neptune

They were both idealist and possibly had a romantic idea about the world. They also were unclear abou tthemselves. Quoting myself again:
" Sun and Neptune shared in aspect gives you shared ideals, dreams and faith or even a shared idol! But with hard aspects you might share the same disillusions as well or this relationship is disillusive. Cooperating could work out best in an asylum or in a non-profit organization where they can help others, and each other."

This seems to be related to his mental situation and to the marxism.
  • SHARING VENUS-MARS
Venus conjunct Mars and Venus sextile Mars: they were people with a passion.

**It is an interesting case of a matching couple with difficulties. In the eyes of their friends, they were not 'compatible' at all, however. She was not elegant, she was old fashioned and she was humiliated by him in public. Saturn made it very hard on her and still she didn't leave.
**

KILLING
A. The killer
When he killed her, there were difficult and easy transits and progressions at the same time. What would you think of these transits and progressions?
1. Transit Mars trine Saturn
On that specific day, it was time for an easy death end.
2. Transit Saturn square Pluto
Having a hard time facing consequences, fear of paying the price. Saturn rising before the Sun and Pluto conjunct Midheaven point at the importance of Saturn and Pluto.
3. Transit Pluto conjunct Sun
Stress!!!! As her Sun is conjunct his, it was shortly after her transit Pluto-Sun experience. They were both having difficult times.
4. Transit Jupiter conjunct Ascendant
This day was the start of 'getting better' (often a therapy or doctor is 'on the horizon' with Jupiter)
5. Transit Jupiter inconjunct Progressed IC
Improvement with a loss involved
6. Transit Saturn opposition Nessus in 7
A hard confrontation after death
7. Transit Nessus inconjunct progressed Sun
Facing anger from the past in an unbalanced way with a loss involved.
8. Progressed Sun sextile Progressed Uranus
Liberation, independence and change coming up.

B. The victim
Her transits and progressions on the final day:
1. Transit Uranus conjunct MC
A shock, something suddenly changes the status quo
2. Transit Neptune sextile Sun
Confused 'letting go'
3. Transit Chiron inconjunct Progressed Moon
A moment of hurt
4. Transit Chiron semi square Sun/Moon
Vulnerable frustrating moment in marriage (remember that his Chiron is square her Sun/Moon. This transit is resonating that).
5. Transit Mars inconjunct IC
Getting hurt with a loss involved
6. In the progressed chart Saturn was conjunct Midheaven
The end of a period or condition (she died)

NATAL CHART HELENE
- Her Mars rises before her Sun. They describe her as 'militant' and with a cracked voice (Sun square Uranus).

- In her natal chart the Descendant was conjunct Mars/Saturn. It refers to a death ends on the horizon. In the Second World War she was a member of the resistance.

- She also had Jupiter and Neptune in hard aspect with the angles, for hope, beliefs and following an ideology.

- Her Saturn was 'calling'!

The importance of Mars and Saturn and the midpoint Mars/Saturn-horizon shows that issues of limited energy, death ends and discipline were important in her life. It seems that she spoke of suicide more than once.

NATAL CHART LOUIS
He was mentally ill and yet worshipped by his audience (Moon quatronovile Neptune and sesquisquare Jupiter).

He said that he did it without knowing it. I think that Sun quintile Neptune is the aspect of the creative double life and the creative fantasy, too. As you may see in the links, he explains that he had an identity crisis. On my site Astromarkt, in the article about Sun-Neptune, I mention the issue of identity crisis related to this aspect.
He said that it wasn't him, but it was him. Here is the chart with transits and progressions for the fatal day.

Long lasting ending marriage of Mel Gibson

Transit Uranus is conjunct Mel Gibson's Midheaven and he is in the news because of the end of his longlasting marriage. Mel Gibson is an artist. It is amazing for an artist to be married for so long. What are the indications for the long marriage and what for possible divorce?

LONGLASTING MARRIAGE
There are several indications for a long lasting marriage. First of all, there was the Moon (ruler 1) trine Mercury in 7 for getting married in the first place. He did not divorce as quickly as other actors seem to do, because:

1. Capricorn is on the cusp of the seventh house (if he was born at 16:45). Capricorn, ruled by Saturn, seems to be the sign of what is longlasting, carefull, responsible and cautious.
2. The sextile between Moon ruler 1 and Saturn ruler 7. Moon-Saturn aspects make it hard to show emotions and make it easy to follow into the footsteps of a parents, doing the right thing (just like it should) and feeling responsible for the children and the family. Mel Gibson's wife left him 3 years ago. It took 3 years to divorce. I have an example in my files of somenone that I know. She lives separate from her husband for more than 3 years now and she has Moon (and Sun) in Capricorn semi sextile Saturn. They did not divorce (yet). To consolidate a habit is easy with Moon - Saturn.
3. The amount of positions in fixed signs. The fixed signs show perseverence and strong will.
Look at Venus quintile Saturn (for a creative way to remain married or to live apart together).
4. Saturn oriental (serious, responsible, parenthood, status, respect, wanting security)
Capricorn and Saturn sometimes over value the importance of status and 'what people might think' and they want to be 'descent'. That, having children together and responsibilities (or costs! Capricorn is economic!) is sometimes a reason to keep a marriage going that is already on it's end. Mel Gibson's friends are rather conservative and so is he. Saturn oriental**) reflects the conservative style.

So there were at least 4 reasons for the fact that he remained married for so long. But, now he is about to divorce.

DIVORCE
An indication for divorce*) is the opposition between Mercury in the 7th house and Uranus in the 1st house. Mercury in the 7th house is strongly afflicted. There is an inconjunction with Jupiter and Pluto (for wealth and fame). It means that his success has a price and the place to pay is marriage and ...money, perhaps in a disproportionate amount. Mercury is opposition Uranus in the first house for disagreements in marriage. The opposition is out of sign (and maybe was out of the public's sight:), but tight. Mercury is square Neptune (out of sign again, but tight). The success in communications and in the world of fantasy (including religious belief) is evident. Mercury is in aspect with Jupiter-Pluto and Neptune. Mercury is trine the Moon, ruler 1 (out of sign again). That made it easy to get married. But the opposition with Uranus shows opposition between him and a partner based upon opposing opinions.
Second indication: Moon semi sextile Neptune.
Third indication: the influence of the afflicted Sun on the Descendant (having the starring role).
Fourth indication: Venus is 'calling'*) in Aquarius, the sign of liberty and independence.

There are also indications for difficulties with women or relationships in general:
- a quindecile between Venus and Pluto
- a sesquisquare between Moon and Venus
The same aspects that attribute to artistic talent make it difficult to keep relations going (for example: attraction, sensitivity, romantic ideals).

PRIVACY
He and his partner want to have privacy in this matter. Sun quintile Neptune and sesquisquare Pluto, Moon semi sextile Neptune and Pluto, Mercury square Neptune and Pluto...The Neptune/Pluto combination of the silent force and of discretion is very active in his chart.

*) In the chart of a man indications for divorce are:
Moon afflicted by Saturn
Moon afflicted by Neptune
Venus afflicted by Neptune
Mars afflicted by Uranus
Afflictions between the 1st and 7th house (rulers and/or planets in the houses).

When a person is so famous, it is difficult to keep a secret and that is another way to reflect the combination of Neptune (the secret) and Pluto (difficulties).

THE ARTIST
The astrological pattern for the artist in the chart of Mel Gibson is:

- Moon sesquisquare Venus (sense of art and style)
- Venus 'calling' (vocation for style, beauty and entertainment)
- Moon in Libra (sense of art)
- Pisces MC (career in the media, religion or 'empathic' business)
- Neptune quintile Sun and Midheaven (creative fantasy, double identity - pretending to be someone, like actors do -)
- Moon semi sextile Neptune (sensitivity)
- Sun/Moon in aspect with Mercury and Neptune (the reigning need of telling tales)
- Sun opposition AsC (for drawing attention)

I found his hour of birth on Star IQ.

*) I name a planet a calling planet (important for the vocation) when a planet does not make a major (Ptolemaic) aspect in sign or orb 5 degrees. Venus 'calling' refers to the attraction of entertainment, beauty, style and art.
**) When Saturn rises before the Sun (that is the 'oriental' Saturn) the nativity is first of all oriented on official status (in education or in marriage).

John and Jackie Kennedy

The marriage of Jacqueline Bouvier and John F. Kennedy ended with the death of JFK. This post is about the astrological relationship of the charts of this famous couple.

Jacqueline Bouvier was born with Venus and Jupiter in Gemini. Jupiter was in the seventh house of marriage. She married twice. In an earlier post about double bodied signs and Jupiter in the 7th you will find more examples of people who married more than once. They also had Jupiter in the 7th and/or Venus in a double bodied sign. Jacqueline Bouvier has a chart that tells us that there is a great possibility of marrying more than once. And the marriage with John F. Kennedy was her first marriage...

Apart from a wide quintile of Venus with Uranus, there are no indications for divorce.

I wrote about Jacqueline and John Kennedy before:

"Think of Jacqueline Kennedy. She married John F. Kennedy when she was 24 and that is not extremely young. When he died, she married an older man (Onassis). Her Venus is in Gemini and opposition Saturn. Jupiter is in her 7th house. There are two indications for marrying more than once (Venus in Gemini and Jupiter in the 7th). The usual indications for divorce are not found*).

We see Venus (ruler 7) in the 8th house and in the 22nd degree. The 22nd degree has a bad name in astrology (see for example the site Astrology in Serbia) and Astrology.com has a site to release stress coming from the 22nd degree.
(...)"

JOHN F. KENNEDY
John F. Kennedy has a chart that shows the leader.
1. The Sun does not make Ptolemaic aspects and is square ASC/MC. He was the crucial centre of attention at any possible level. More about his Astro I.D.:
2. Neptune and Pluto do not make major aspects either (for idealism and politics, discretion and ‘the silent force')
3. Saturn on top is conjunct Sun/Moon (government, management, ambition, ...possible divorce)

Indications for the way that he ended his young life are:
1. The 8th house with Sun, Venus, Jupiter (importance of danger, challenge and power)
2. Mars inconjunct Ascendant (disproportional acts or aggression)
3. Uranus inconjunct MC (unbalanced sudden changing status)
4. Saturn, ruler 4, conjunct MC (public end)
5. Saturn semi square Mars/Pluto (possible unnatural death)
6. Vulcanus semi square Mars/Pluto (possible public use of power and force)
And yes, just being a president is dangerous, too.

John F. Kennedy married only once but he had several 'relationships' while married. It is said that he hired a dozen of prostitutes once and a while. Moon square Venus in double bodied signs reflects the need for women. And Jupiter is in his 8th house (of sex) and not in the 7th (of marriage). Had he still lived and stopped being a president, he would likely have had a divorce. There are two out of four indications for a divorce: Mars is square Uranus, Venus is semi square Neptune.".

But of course, he married her, and why?
1. He shared a Mars-Pluto aspect with Jacqueline (he has the semi square, she has the sextile). His Mars is sextile her Pluto! His Mars is inconjunct his Ascendant and opposition hers. (It crosses my mind that this looks a lot like the Mars-Pluto relationship in the Holloway case, click to see that post.)

2. His Moon is exactly trine her Northern Node (for emotional relationship, taking care together)

3. in the composite chart there is Sun conjunct Moon, a strong indication for creating a family life

4. His Venus -ruler 1 - is conjunct her Sun/Moon and that is a fine end of this story. Sun/Moon is family life, heart and soul. And Venus is sympathy and love. So at a particular moment in time his love was joining her wish to have a family life.

PS Read in the post about the chart of JFK:
"Kennedy died. He was murdered in the year that his wife Jackie lost her baby Patrick in August 1963. She went to Greece to shop and cruise and met Onassis. General de Gaulle once accused Aristoteles Onassis of being the man behind the murder of Kennedy. And it is indeed strange to see that the midpoint Mars/Saturn (=death) of Onassis (born January 15 1906) is tightly conjunct the Sun of Kennedy. And even stranger that the Pluto of Onassis is tightly conjunct the progressed Mars of Kennedy on the very day of the murder! Coincidence? It might just be so... "
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*) The aspects for no or more than 1 marriage in a woman's chart are:
- Sun afflicting or conjunct Mars or Uranus,
- Venus afflicting or conjunct Uranus and/or
- Mars afflicting or conjunct Saturn
- and/or afflictions between the 1st and 7th house
When there 3 or more of such indications, the woman might prefer to remain single.

In a male's chart the indications are:
- Moon in conflict with Saturn
- Moon in conflict with Neptune
- Venus in conflict with Neptune
- Mars in conflict with Uranus
- and/or afflictions between the 1st and 7th house

Divorce Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise

This week it was hot news that Katie Holmes left Tom Cruise. It is his third divorce. It is her first time.  I first planned to tell you all about it, but after writing it down, I decided to keep most of it to myself, to stick to the pictures and just tell you this:
a. They never matched at all. Their signs don't match. And his Sun is quindecile her Sun: that is an obsessive aspect and a hard one. Their charts weren't made for each other.
b. They both have a Mars-Uranus aspect. In short: hurry hurry hurry and boom! Her Venus-Uranus aspect warns for marrying too quickly with the wrong person.
c. When she married him she had Pluto on her Sun. His Pluto is in hard aspect with her Sun/Moon midpoint. This usually complicates a relationship.

For the purpose of study we have the Astrodienst AA-rated chart of Katie Holmes and the day of birth of Tom Cruise. We also know when they got married. Here are the charts.

A chart of Katie Holmes. The ' transits ' are the positions of the day of birth of Tom Cruise.

Above is the chart, progressed chart and transits of Katie Holmes on her wedding day.  There are a lot of transits and progressions. Like this one: the Progressed Ascendant is conjunct Saturn! When Orson Welles married Rita Hayworth, transit Saturn was on his Ascendant. The marriage didn't last. (see: http://astrology-love-romance.blogspot.nl/2011/09/famous-couple-orson-welles-and-rita.html)

There was a rumor about Katie wanting to move out of the family house, in 2008 (see the post: http://astropost.blogspot.nl/2008/07/house-and-chart-of-tom-cruise-and-katie.html

And now she left.

  • Then her Sun sign was changing sign to Aquarius
  • Her progressed Venus got inconjunct her Midheaven
  • Progressed Sun conjunct Progressed Mars.
  • Transit Pholus now square progressed Ascendant/Midheaven midpoint
  • Transit Uranus trine Jupiter.
  • The Uranus-Pluto (revolutionary) square hits her Jupiter and ...her Sun/Moon.
  • Transit Uranus is quindecile her Sun/Moon midpoint now (=a strong focus on change in marriage and motivation).
  • According to her husband it came as a complete surprise. For this, I like to point at Transit Uranus quatronovile the Progressed Ascendant (rejoicing a surprising act:).

LESSON
About aspects:
Inconjunctions between charts make it hard to maintain a balance between the two of you. Squares ad opposition at first seem to attract the 'opposite' but don't make it as easy as trines and sextiles to stick together. Conjunctions join you, but sometimes they join what you don't want (for example your sunny Sun and his Pluto). Quindeciles often cause obsession. Quintiles offer creative solutions in case of differences and noviles help you to see the good things in the partner.
About planets:
Pholus creates a point of no return. Uranus comes by surprise. And Saturn as a guest on your wedding day is usually not invited!

See the label for more examples of divorce.

PS
The astrological pattern of professional artistic talent in the chart of Katie Holmes is in the Moon square Venus and trine Neptune, with Midheaven square Moon, opposition venus and biquintile Neptune. The 'calling' Sun with the Moon and Ascendant in Leo will always make Katie Holmes shine and look brilliant wherever she is,with or without Tom Cruise.

Famous couple: Crown Prince Felipe and his wife Letizia of Spain

This is the chart of Letizia, Crown Princess of Spain. The ‘ transits’ are the natal positions of her husband, Felipe, with exception of the Moon and his Ascendant and Midheaven (he has the Moon in the 20th degree of Aquarius, square the Ascendant in 20th degree of Taurus and Midheaven in the last degree of Capricorn). What occurs to me first is that Letizia has the Sun square Saturn, a difficult aspect when it comes to restrictions and status, just like Dutch Crown Princess Maxima and the Belgian Crown Princess. Letizia has 2 of the 4 indications for divorce in a woman's chart (Sun conjunct Mars and Mars exactly square Saturn) and Uranus is in her 7th house. First I thoughht that this was a risk for this marriage, but (see comments!): she was married before! Felipe doesn’t have the indications for divorce in a man’s chart. He has Neptune in the 7th house.

MATCH?
The interaction between the positions of Princess and Prince (the aspects between the charts) tell us about the connection between them. So:

How does the next Spanish royal couple (Felipe and Letizia) match?

  • Their Suns don’t match (sesquisquare); who's the boss

  • Their Moons match (sextile); easy getting used to each other

  • Their Mercuries don’t match (157.5 degree = sesquisquare and half semi square); communications!!!

  • Venus biquintile Venus is a match expressing a creative way to match preferences and ...they found a way to love each other in spite of differences

  • Their Mars don’t match (opposition); attraction and competition (with the risk of fighting each other if they don't cooperate).
The complete picture is that they don’t match easy but they are strongly connected to each other. In a way there is a similarity with the synastry of the royal couple (the parents of the prince). See that post. Continue for more...

How long will this love be going on?

This post is about the effect of the elements and the length of a relationship. The composition of elements in your natal chart is one of the indications of how long you and a partner will be together. Of course there are other indications, too*). But the elements certainly have a big role to play.

Earth signs are the signs of realism and the wish to be respected. They are contributing to the length of relationships. Air signs are the signs of communications (and flirtations:). The fire signs are full of passion and the water signs are to be seduced (even though they like to belong to someone). The elements don't indicate if you will be faithful and true!:)

Capital signs take the initiative. The fixed signs hold on to what they have got. And the movable signs? They are not very stable.

Here are some famous examples:

Mel Gibson has 60% in fixed signs and that might be the reason why his marriage lasted more than 20 years.

Rihanna (20 February 1988) has Moon, Venus and Mars in fire signs, the signs of passion.
Chris Brown (5 May 1989) doesn't have any position in fire signs. He has Sun, Moon and Venus in Taurus, 60% in earth signs all together.
See my blog Art&Astrology for more about their relationship.

Dr. Robert Schuller (the television minister) has Moon, Venus and Mars in earth signs and that contributes to the length of his marriage.

Dutch Prince Bernhard (two daughters with two mistresses) had Venus and Mars in passionate fire signs. He did not divorce. He was a Cancer with 40% in watersigns.

His wife, Queen Juliana, had Sun, Moon, Venus and Mars in fixed signs. She knew about her husband's affairs and didn't divorce him after all.

John Kerry has Sun in Sagittarius, Moon and Mars in Gemini and Venus in Scorpio square Pluto. That is 3 times a flexible sign. He divorced and remarried a rich woman.

J.W. Jones, had Moon Venus and Mars in fire signs. Perhaps that explains the need for a lot of women.

John F. Kennedy had Sun and Venus in Gemini, Moon in Virgo (three times flexible signs) and he had Mars in Taurus. One woman was not enough for him.

Camille Parker Bowles waited all her life for the moment of her marriage (6 April 2005). She was the mistress of Prince Charles when they both were married. She has 50% in water signs.

Elisabeth Taylor has 50% in watersigns. She also has Gemini on the cusp of the 7th house of marriage. Gemini is an air sign and a double bodied sign. But that is another story. Read about that in the earlier post on this blog about multiple marriages and double bodied signs.

*) Strong indications for divorce are in the aspects between the 1st and 7th house and:
for women, afflictions between Sun-Mars, Sun-Uranus, Venus-Uranus or Mars-Saturn
for men, afflictions between Moon-Saturn, Moon-Neptune, Venus-Neptune or Mars-Uranus
When there are more 3 or more of these indications it is hard to get or stay married.

Mel Gibson and Oksana's Uranus on his Sun/Moon midpoint

It is finito between the parents of baby Lucia. Oksana Grigorieva and Mel Gibson are no longer in love. Of course, they didn’t match too much. The Sun signs matched and his Jupiter square her Venus promised lots of fun. And that is it. Maybe her natal Moon was conjunct his Venus, for falling inlove…

More important is the effect of her Uranus in the 6th degree of Libra opposition her 7th degree Aries Ceres. Mel Gibson’s Sun/Moon midpoint is in the 22nd degree of Scorpio. That is semi square her Uranus. And indeed, she changed (Uranus) his family life (Sun/Moon) and shook up the beds. Ceres is the symbol of the mother, the seed, the genes…They will always be linked to each other by their little girl Lucia. Ceres introduces the theme of motherhood (maybe also: wanting to have his baby). I read that they originally parted like friends, but later Oksana said that Mel had an affair during her pregnancy (how very Uranic; friendship and surprising news).

HOW ABOUT YOU?
The planet of light that is on, opposition or square the point in the middle of the partners’ Sun and Moon is reflecting much of what motivates the partner when it is about you. Uranus might just reflect adventure, something exciting, friendship or breaking free.

See for more info: the Sun/Moon midpoint synastry.

Elvis and Priscilla Presley

Elvis Presley and Priscilla both have Sun trine Neptune and both have Neptune on top of their charts. Sharing Sun trine the elevated Neptune gives them a sort of a romantic view of life and of each other. He was of course her idol... But her Neptune is inconjunct his Moon and so there is the risk of a lost and no balance in the romantic needs. And did they match? No, they did not.

NO MATCH
Her Sun is in Gemini and his in Capricorn. Venus in Aries (hers) does not easily go with Venus in Capricorn. Her Mars in Aries is opposition his in Libra.

BUT:
- Her Sun is square his Moon. It is a usual Sun-Moon combination. She was the realization of his romantic needs.
- His Sun is trine her Jupiter. When she met him, her progressed Sun was square Jupiter: her life style improved, she was starting to be a success (and his progressed Venus was conjunct his Moon - he fell in love).
- His Sun is square her Mars. Her disproportionate drive to grow and make life better is linked to his life. She stimulated and activated him. His Sun and her Mars were in aspect. Her Sun is semi square Mars - a sign for possible divorce -. This relationship seems to have been 'ment to be'. Just like Sarah and Andrew they seem to have been made to divorce each other:).
- His Mars-Ascendant combination is in aspect with her Uranus and his natal Mars is biquintile his Uranus (a sign for a possible divorce). The relationship was a flaslight relationship that offered the chance for him to be a 'free man' even while married (he had to work:). She was often alone (re: Saturn in the 7th).

Often, when people with indications for possible difficulties in a partnership come together, they have found the right kind of person: the one that offers the opportunity to marry twice, to divorce or to remain alone for the rest of their lives.

PRISCILLA
Priscilla never remarried (but instead she had a long lasting relationship). She has Sun semi square Mars (one of the indications for divorce ub teg cgart if=. Saturn is in her 7th house, trine her Moon ruler 7. She married once. There have been other relationships, but she never married another man. Her Venus (in Aries) and Jupiter are 'calling' (not making major aspects) and they are a biquintile away from each other. This combination expresses a creative way to make more fun. Venus is 105 degrees from Pluto. The Venus-Jupiter-Pluto combination tells us about earning or gaining a lot of money and sympathy. Of course, Priscilla Presley started her own career after the death of Elvis. (That was on August 16, 1977 with transit Pluto trine Priscilla's progressed ASC, followed by progressed Moon opposition Saturn.)

ELVIS
Elvis had two indications for possible divorce: Venus sesquisquare Neptune and Mars-Uranus biquintile. The latter might be indicating that he was creative enough to find another way to be a 'free man'.

CONCLUSION
They didn't match, but they found each other in sharing the same dreams and romantic illusions in the beginning...She married her idol and he married his fan. It could not last for ever. It was their first marriage and both have indications for divorce and/or difficulties in marriage in their natal charts. Her Uranus on his descendant says enough: it was a flash light exiting relationship. And the batteries ran out of power.

Famous couple: Juan Carlos and Sofia of Spain

The King and Queen of Spain will be married 50 years in May 2012. There are few catholic royals who won't stay together for life, even in hard times. (Exception: Prince Hugo Carlos and Princess Irene, see that post). Time is hard for the Spanish royal couple. Their charts show it, the wedding chart shows it and their natal charts also tell us about the symbol of 'decorum' and distance: Saturn.

WEDDING
Above is Queen Sofia's chart, with transits and progressions for the wedding day. In the early years of the marriage of Queen Sofia of Spain and King Juan Carlos her progressed Sun was conjunct Venus and sextile Mars. Venus and Mars are the planets of passion. Venus makes you happy. When she married, Progressed Venus was opposition Ceres (love and dynasty/motherhood) with transit Jupiter trine her Sun (social success).

This is the chart of Juan Carlos on the day of the wedding. His chart shows discipline and tension: P Mars conjunct Saturn and trine Pluto, for example and P Sun square Uranus). Right now the Sun is conjunct Saturn and trine Pluto. Pluto is his ruler 7 (marriage).

Do their charts match? A tiny bit, I’d say. Of course charts aren’t telling us all, but they mirror certain tendencies that I like to show you.

MATCH AND SYNASTRY
Sun signs
Their sun signs seem to be compatible (she is a Scorpio and he is a Capricorn). But… their birthdays are a challenge: their suns are semisesquisquare (67.5d) apart. (See if your birthdays match here).  That doesn’t necessarily mean that you can’t live together, but it will be more difficult to join the ways of life.
Moon signs
To compensate, their moons are in Aquarius. Their backgrounds, needs and habits are in line. There is at least friendship and attraction.
Venus signs and aspects
Venus in Sagittarius is no match for Venus in Capricorn, so that their preferences will differ. It makes it harder to enjoy things together. Her Sun/Moon is conjunct his Venus (ruler 1). There is a great sense of ‘ to belong’ together.
Mars signs
The challenging aspect between their Mars:  157.5 d (sesquisquare + half semi square) is for competition and anger after ‘fire’ from the start.
Synastry and Sun Saturn
There is a difficult synastry aspect and that is: her Saturn square his Sun. Such an aspect refers to barriers between them. This Sun-Saturn conflict becomes an issue now that he has Progressed Sun conjunct Saturn and now that transit Saturn is on the cusp of her 7th house (of marriage).

Saturn now
Saturn is hitting hard in the charts of los Reinos: the King and Queen of Spain, today, just before the 50th anniversary of their marriage. He broke a leg and he had to say sorry in public. She spent 15 minutes with him after three days. That is Saturn. Saturn is the symbol of criticism and separation in a relationship. Mistakes and faults are being highlighted when it is time for Saturn. Often that is just too much for the marriage (see examples*), and divorce follows, but divorce is rare in a royal catholic family. What is left is perhaps cool distance for a while. Or business as usual?
Even the chart positions of the wedding (on May 14, 1962) has difficulties: progressed Sun trine Neptune might make it a 'fairy tale' but there is an
    1. inconjunction of progressed Sun with Saturn and ...
    2. transit Saturn inconjunct the Sun of May 14 doesn't help much, either.
Well, they managed to stay together for almost 50 years, so I guess that this marriage survives in spite of these inconjunctions of Saturn and that they and their family will celebrate the 5 decades anyway. In spite of the mistress (Corrina zu Sayn-Wittgenstein Frankfurt-am-Main, supposedly born January 29, 1965 with her Venus semi square the king's Sun/Moon, her Neptune opposition his Ascendant - romance! - and Sun square the Sun of Sofia with Saturn on Sofia's Moon).

On Astropost there is a post with more about the present transits and progressions with Saturn in the charts of the king and queen of Spain for April 2012. I will send the link later.

    LINKS

*)Think of my post 'Saturn and saying goodbye'. I mentioned:
    • Maria Shriver (divorcing Arnold Schwarzenegger: transit Saturn sesquisquare progressed AC/MC and square progressed Sun.
    • Sandra Bullock, ex of Jesse James, had Progressed AC/MC square Saturn and transit Pholus in hard aspect with natal midpoint AC/MC when they separated.
    • Mrs Strauss-Kahn (15 July 1948, 16:30 New York) had Progressed MC square Saturn andTransit Neptune square Ascendant during the revelations and trial of her husband.
