Famous couples: Princess Margaret and Anthony Armstrong Jones

Anthony Armstrong Jones has Mars in mutual reception*)) with Uranus and they are the final dispositors of the Midheaven routing (Sagittarius, Jupiter in Gemini, Mercury in Aquarius, Uranus in Aries <> Mars in Aquarius). A hard connection between Mars and Uranus is one of the indications for divorce in a male's chart. He also has Moon square Neptune, another 'warning'. His marriage with Princess Margareth was his first marriage. So there could be serious problems...

Princess Margaret must have loved her husband dearly (Venus in Libra in the seventh house) and yes, he was good looking (Venus in the 7th house chooses at least a charming partner). She had Saturn on top for duties and status above all, however. While he had Saturn square Uranus...which means that he wanted to break free.

Margaret also had indications for divorde: Venus in the 7th house opposition Uranus in the first, for example.

MATCH
Both had indications for a divorce. For both persons it was their first marriage. That doesn't support the idea of an everlasting relationship. And: did they match? Certainly not, except for Mars (cooperation, sex). His Mars in Aquarius, hers in Gemini. But the rest...

Her Sun is in Leo, his in Pisces
Her Moon in Cancer, his in Gemini

They share an aspect between Mercury and Mars (for discussions). But there is little more. In the composite chart the tightest aspect is Sun inconjunct Saturn, symbolising separation.

PROGRESSIONS
Armstrong Jones had Ceres on the Ascendant of his progressed chart in 1958. The Saturn of Margaret was exactly opposition his progressed Ceres-Ascendant. Reading: he met the mother of his children. She met the father of hers. As his Jupiter was conjunct her progressed Ascendant, he gained her trust in that year. And so, they got married, they were together for many years.

But in the year 1978 they divorced after separation in 1976. What indications were there?
Her progressed Sun was conjunct Venus in 1976 (but, we are aware that Venus is square Uranus in her natal chart, ruling the houses 1 and 7 and that this is an indication for a divorce).
In 1978 her progressed Sun was opposition Uranus.

Her husband's progressed Sun had changed sign in the years before 1976/1978. The Midheaven changed sign in 1975 and the first aspect was an inconjunction with Neptune (positioned on the Descendant of the natal chart; inconjunctions with Neptune refer to loosing something or an illusion) and later square Sun. His progressed Mars and Uranus (symbol of divorce in a male's chart) are on either side of Margaret's Ascendant in 1976. And there was probably much more, but I think this is enough.

Anthony Armstrong Jones and Princess Margaret just had to divorce one day...

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes

Sun, Venus, Mars and Neptune are prominent in the chart of Katie Holmes. With Neptune oriental she is the perfect dreamer to catch up with the beliefs of her husband, Tom Cruise. She lives with him, his mother, his sister and her children in one (I hope:) large house*). And it seams she is considering a move. Maybe that is because transit Uranus is opposition her Northern Node - for independency towards a group -? Or is it the progressed Sun getting close to Mars? I know that Sun-Mars progressions manifest the will to be self supportive and do your own thing.

MOON CALLING, CERES CONJUNCT SUN
Why is Tom Cruise living with his mother anyway? He has Sun inconjunct Saturn and that might make it difficult to have a life (without a parent) and ...to have a life (WITH a parent). But most important are:
- the calling Moon for the importance of habits and needs,
- and the fact that Ceres (symbol of heirdom) is conjunct his Sun and oriental.
He wants to live (Sun) close (conjunct) to his inheritance. And he is the one who is to provide for them. With Ceres rising before and conjunct the Sun he will be pleased to nurture baby Suri. I have the feeling that Ceres had an important role to play in 'Dynasty':)

SHARING THE MOON SIGN
For the issue of living together it is nice to see that Tom and Katie share a Moon in Leo and feel comfortable in each others' presence. They share the same needs and are easily adapting to each other's habits. There is of course interaction between their charts. Some of the synastry-aspects will be helpful to keep the relationship going, others are not.

They share Mars afflicting Uranus (he square, she semi square). Click for the article to find out what it means. Mars square Uranus is one of the indications in a male's chart for divorces. Tom Cruise already had one. Katie also has an indication for divorce: Venus conjunct Uranus (marrying impulsively).

DIFFERENCE IN AGE
Katie Holmes married a man who is 16 years older than she is. Venus sextile Saturn is one of the tightest aspects in her chart. In marriage and relationships she prefers to have security. When she married Tom Cruise - who has Saturn in the 5th house -(on November 18 2006) she had transit Saturn inconjunct and transit Uranus semi square her progressed Sun. It is rather strange that she had a composition for restricted freedom. Another transit on that day is Uranus semi square progressed Mars. That is the same aspect that they share! It seems that the marriage iniciated a whole new adventure for both of them.

The relationship with Katie made Tom Cruise very enthusiastic. He had the progressed Moon opposition Venus in 2005, when he fell in love and his Ascendant changed sign. In the first half of 2009 he will have progressed MC opposition Saturn and progressed Sun square Mars. That might be a good moment to split up with his family and start his own life.

Diana and Dodi: they must have made each other happy. Notice that his Jupiter squares her MC, while her Jupiter is conjunct his MC. I wonder it that could have prevented a row in the end. Her Mars is exactly square to his. Remember the charts of Paul and Heather? Her Mars inconjunct his...It must be attractive in the beginning but it might turn into fighting each other later when two temparements test their qualities.

Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer

It must be a heavy disappointment for Jennifer Aniston, on May 20,2009 when her relationship with singer John Mayer crashed and her ex starts to '' tell tales'. There were heavy transits with her chart:

- Saturn semi square Ascendant

- Saturn inconjunct Venus

- Saturn square progressed Mars

- Saturn sesquisquare progressed Saturn

- Neptune conjunct Sun

These transits show grieve, being alone and disappointed. After this there have been rumours about the couple being seen together again.

There is a strong match between them, but apparently: that is not enough. Or maybe that is the reason why the couple reunites again and again, in spite of the difficult synastry?   

MATCH
Friends have Moons in the same sign and so have Jennifer and John. They feel close. It is also evident that their Suns and Mars are matching! This is a perfect example of a match that does not promise a lifetime marriage! There is one little thing that doesn't match: Venus, the planet of love, compromise and diplomacy. They don't seem to have compatible tastes, sympathies and preferences. Venus is often the planet that makes love sweeter and a relationship easier. In this case her Neptune is sextile his Venus and that is a compensation for the lack of shared sympathies: romance...

SHARING...
They share Sun-Mars, Venus-Pluto
Both charts (the one of Jennifer and the one of John) have Sun square Mars. Sun square Mars means competition and arguments (see my site: Astromarkt ).
Jennifer Aniston (born February 11, 1969, 22u20 LA) has a tight square between Sun and Mars. That is not pleasant for relationships with men. John Mayer ALSO has Sun square Mars and his Mars is square her Ascendant. She is the target:). Their Suns and Mars are matching and they share that Sun-Mars affliction...Is this difficult astrologic to say that there is a strong attraction because they are both fighters?

Jennifer Aniston also has a wide opposition between Venus and Uranus. That is another difficult aspect when relations are concerned. And apart from that: Venus is sesquisquare Mars, and they rule the 1st and 7th house! Three times is …enough. Jennifer Aniston somehow will attract the ‘wrong persons’. Notice that Venus is also quindecile Pluto, so that there is an obsessive urge to have relationships and at the same time a problem whit love. Accidentally, John has Venus 15 degrees from Pluto. That is what they share as well. About sharing Venus-Pluto aspects, I wrote on Astromarkt:

Venus-Pluto is for fanatics. When in love they want all or nothing, there are no compromises and often they are jealous or there are other marriage problems. They might start a marriage 'forced' by circumstances. In a group the desire to make money shares them. But, if harmonious, this aspect could indicate 'love till death do us part'. And for experienced fanatics: sharing the same pain.

With Moon conjunct Neptune John has what it takes to experience difficulties in his relationships with women.

This post was originally written in May 2009 and has now been completed with new findings about Mars and Pholus and a better picture of the chart. A reason for having a look at this old post was, that there are new rumours about Jennifer and John being reunited. That is with transit Pholus conjunct Jennifer's progressed Mars, indicating a turning point regarding a fight or...a man. Jennifer has Mars square Pholus in the natal chart.That could be read like 'shooting your foot' regarding to men. Her Pholus is inconjunct the Mars of John Mayer. An inconjunct refers to lack of balance and losts. I refer to the Pholus files:

Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie (both related to Brad Pitt) are sharing the aspect Moon square Saturn and a hard aspect between Sun and Uranus. Probably Brad Pitt likes ambitious and independent women. He has Venus and Moon in Capricorn (ruled by Saturn) and Venus sesquisquare Uranus. That is how people end up in difficult relations, sometimes. Even with matching sun signs.

Prince Rudolf and Maria Vetsera

In the earlier post about Sissi of Austria I mentioned the suicide of her son Rudolf on January 30, 1889, together with his mistress, Maria Vetsera at Mayerling Castle. The story of their suicide is in my memory thanks to the ballet that I saw long time ago.

Just like his father (Franz Josef), Rudolf seemed to prefer young women, because Maria was only 17 when she met him (30). In those days marrying older men was more common than today. But in this case his age and status was important for the relationship. And...he was already married.
Her Saturn is square his Venus. His Saturn is on her Midheaven. And THAT makes me think of his guilt (Saturn) related to her end (IC/MC). It is assumed that he shot her and then himself. Both left notes to explain the suicide.

Who was Rudolf? Saturn oriental and opposition Moon-MC, Uranus conjunct ASC: it is easy to see the need to break free. With Mars opposition Uranus and ASC his short and hot temper drove him into the arms of many women, to comfort him as a compensation for the fact that his grandmother had a hard hand of educating and that he was separated from his mother too young and too often (Moon in Capricorn calling for 'calling' needs). Bad memories of his early days complete the story (Saturn near IC). Venus, Sun and Jupiter were 'calling': there was a potential for being a party animal at any possible level. Imagine that in those days!
He had a venereal disease, scandals seemed to follow him and there was a broken relationship with the German emperor's son about ??? That impressed him very much and lead to the end of his military functions. Nobody knows why.
His progressed Moon inconjunct Saturn on the IC reflects the existing Moon-Saturn opposition on the IC-MC axis and activated (apparently) a bad mood and bad memories.

DIFFICULT TIMES ACTIVATING DEPRESSED FEELINGS
Pluto and Neptune were at that time close to the Ascendant of Rudolf.
In January 1889 Rudolf's Ascendant and MC had recently changed sign and his Sun was moving to the next sign within 2 years. A period had ended. He was in a negative situation (Neptune was on his Ascendant - maybe he was under influence (drunk or using drugs). With Pluto opposition Mars and conjunct Uranus in his last days his explosive nature was tested after a stressful situation (transit Pluto on the ASC). But there was ONE fortunate aspect. I don't like to be cynical, but Jupiter was trine his natal Sun. And Jupiter rules his 8th house of life and death. It must have been an easy way out of several problems (venereal disease, for example).

There are no progressions of that kind in the chart of Maria. On her last day Maria Vetsera had transit Saturn exactly square Pluto with transit Jupiter square Sun and Mars. With Sun and Moon in Pisces she was romantic enough to follow the plans of Rudolf, perhaps. Her Sun inconjunct his Sun tells us that they were not two of a kind. She was a child, he was much older. In her natal chart Moon is oriental, Mars is opposition Aries Point and Uranus is on top. Perhaps that is the key to the radical action. Moon oriental and Venus opposition Ascendant, tell us that she looked very good (Uranus exactly square Venus) and we can see it on the picture in the chart. Time to ask the main question (WHY?) and trying to find the astrological answers that will never be confirmed by the persons involved.

Why did they die together?

Is it because of the oriental Pluto on top of their composite chart, with Mars on the IC? Is it because in HER chart Mars and Uranus were as prominent as they were in his? Or was it because his Saturn was on her Midheaven? The combination of the three seems to have been enough:


1. Mars-Pluto for use of violence or the impact of sex in their relationship,
2. Mars-Uranus for shared tendency of acting on impulse,
3. His Saturn-her MC: his status linked to her position in life (and death).

Cher says that she had an affair with Tom Cruise in the 80's. His Uranus square her Sun points at the possibility of an 'adventure'. Her Venus on his Midheaven promises a good influence on his carreer. And his Mars not too far away from her Sun shows that he might be her kind of man. His Pluto sextile her Ascendant is fortunate for making a good impression.

Tom Cruise was born 3rd July 1962 at 12:05 p.m. in Syracuse. Cher Bono Alman was born on May 20, 1946 in El Centro at 7:25 a.m. There are very few direct connections between their Sons, Moons, Venus or Mars of the former lovers. Perhaps that shows that there were few 'links', too. Interesting is the composite chart. There you see a tight conjunction of Venus and Uranus: a flash of love...

Prince Andrew and Sarah Fergusson

ANDREW AND SARAH, DID THE MATCH FAIL OR...WAS IT MENT TO BE?

In September 2007 I saw a documentary about prince Andrew. An astrologer, Penny Thomton, told the television maker that Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew had consulted her because they wanted to know if there was a match between their charts (if they matched...). Penny Thornton says that she did not know for sure, even though Sarah's positoins were connected to that of the royal family.

It made me think about the fact that it is often so, that people in love just do not want to hear what others say. I suppose Penny Thornton wanted to be nice to the lovers. Because any astrologer can see the tight aspect in the composite chart: Venus square Uranus. It is the aspect of marrying too soon and of falling in love instantly. Uranus is also the symbol of the astrologer. In this case: love in spite of the astrologer:(

Andrew and Sarah share asepcts between Venus and Pluto, so money might be the issue and so is intense desire. They also share an affliction between Sun and Pluto. That sort of 'handicaps' them with a strong will. I guess this was/is an absolute strong love with all of the problems that belang to a relationship that is too intense.

But there is more....Look at Sun Pisces and Sun Libra with Moon Scorpio and Moon Aries. It is not an easy combination to live and share a family life together. She is full of passion and independant. He is far more secretive and intense and from time to time unreasonable. With his crucial Uranus on the Ascendant he is actually the 'batchelor', doing things his own special way, wanting to be free and independant. In September 2007 he was part of the party scene (look at Jupiter in the 5th house of pleasures!). Before he was a tough marine officer, 90% of the time away from home.

Ex-wife Sarah has a crucial Venus and Pluto on the MC. Her reputation involves money, pleasure and strong sympathies and antipathies. Uranus is on top of the chart, for rebellion and liberty. It was not modern that she promissed Andrew to 'obey him' when she married him and even that is controversial enough to be inspired by Uranus!

So, maybe, according to 'the rules', they did not fit and match. But...on the other hand this marriage was perfect to keep both of them in the position that they preferred. They wanted to be free and independant! And they wanted children (Jupiter for Andrew and Moon for Sarah in the 5th).

Back to where I started: sometimes people just don't want to know. You might try to prepare a couple with a not perfect match, but those who are in love don't seem to have ears. So eventually there is a relationship anyway. And it seems that in the chart of Sarah Fergusson a dramatic fairy tale marriage is written in capitals: Venus conjunct Pluto in Virgo on the MC, square Jupiter and sextile Neptune (the price - Pluto - you pay for a romantic marriage that you always had been dreaming of...). It is THAT aspect of the marriage that matches his chart. He has Venus semisextiel Jupiter and biquintlle Pluto for spending lots of money and for being the party tiger with all of those girls that fancy him. Venus-Jupiter-Pluto could be the combination of being loved and for progress in love. But clearly it did not mean that he would remain married.

I think they were a perfect match, after all...When a person has such indications in the chart, what can you do to stop him or her to marry the wrong person first? Maybe the wrong person is the link to a better way of living, later, that could not have been lived without the first experience. Who knows?

Maria Callas and Onassis

Maria Callas loved Onassis, but he preferred to wed Jacqueline Kennedy. She never got over it. It was a love drama.
That romantic drama was reflected in the inconjunction of his Neptune with her Sun and Ascendant. But...their natal charts (personalities) were difficult enough to make long lasting relationships a serious problem.

Her chart shows:
Venus square Aries Point and in Capricorn quintile Uranus.
Mars exactly conjunct Saturn
Sun in a 4.5 degree orb square Uranus
And double bodied Gemini on the Descendant

Mars-Saturn, Venus-Uranus and Sun-Uranus are 3 of the 4 combinations indicating divorce in a woman's chart. Three out of four is a lot. (The fourth is Sun-Mars affliction). It must have been difficult for her to find a match who respected her independence.
Maria Callas had been married before, but she divorced. Note that her Sun and Ascendant are conjunct the fixed star Antares (heart of Scorpio) that (according to astrology.com) reflects honours, sudden los and several marriages.

In his chart we see:
- Venus quindecile Neptune,
- Moon square Saturn,
- ruler 1 oppositoin ruler 7,
- Moon biquintile Neptune and
- Mars quintile Uranus.
He has all of the possible indications for divorce in a male's chart!

So let us face it: they were not really made for longlasting relationships. There were also two important indications that this specific relationship would not last:

1. The inconjunction of his Neptune and her Sun/Ascendant almost promises romance (Neptune) without balance (inconjunction) and loss (inconjunction) with grieve (Neptune). And that he would disproportionally disappoint her in her dreams about him. And Aristoteles had Venus and Moon in minor aspect with Neptune. He was a womanizer. He had been married before, too.

2. Her Mars-Saturn conjunction (indication for separating from a man) was inconjunct his Ascendant.

Conclusion: they were made to not get together (for long).

Ingrid Bétancourt and Louis Elado Pérez

Now that she filed for (her second) divorce, the almost former husband of Ingrid Bétancourt accuses her of 'adultery' with a fellow hostage, Luis Elado Pérez Bonilla, born 7 December 1953 in Pasto. I wonder how, given the circumstances, but I know that Ingrid Bétancourt's (former) best friend Clara Rochas has a child with one of the FARC-members, so there was interactions between the sexes (and it were long years without television:).
Let us have an astrological look at the relationship. Apart from the possible mutual connection between Sun and Moon, they share four combinations of aspects and two of them are activated by transit or progression right now. Often shared experiences make a bound.

FOUR SHARED COMPONENTS
They shared circumstances and characteristics:

1. An important Saturn
Luis's Saturn is the first outer planet rising before the Sun. This 'oriental' Saturn reflects ambition, responsibilities and the manager (all that is related to respect, age and status). Ingrid has a 'calling' Saturn, which is a Saturn without major aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees. Both HAD a status as a politician. And according to the memoires of the American hostages, there was a sort of a hierarchy among the hostages that perhaps separated them from the rest.

2. Saturn-Uranus: being in prison and broken free
Ingrid has Saturn inconjunct Uranus. Luis has Sun square Saturn/Uranus. They were in prison together and there was in fact a limited choice in friends.

3. Mars-Uranus (activated today)
He has the square, she has the trine for sharing an adventure and a fight for freedom.Ingrid has Transit Mars opposition natal Uranus today. Luis has transit Uranus inconjunct Mars today. Both have an 'explosive' nature, too. BTW: there is often simple friendship when Mars-Uranus is involved in relationship (like in communities of men or fighters).

4. Mercury-Pluto (the power of the word, nervous problems, activated now)
This year she has progressed Mercury (progressed ruler 1) inconjunct Pluto (progressed ruler 5) and he has Mercury opposition Pluto in his progressed chart. In the natal chart she has Mercury trine Pluto and he has Mercury square Pluto. And his Pluto is sesquisquare her Mercury. Difficult - perhaps poliical - decissions are on their way.

SUN-MOON
Luis probably has his Moon conjunct the Sun of Ingrid and her Moon is trine his Sun (they were attracted to each other or felt at ease with each other)

SECOND DIVORCE
It is not the first broken marriage of Bétancourt. Sun conjunct Mars and ruler 1 (Venus) 105 degrees from Pluto (ruler 7) + Neptune on the Descendant are signs of a possible not long lasting marriage. As Ingrid's Uranus is square Perez's Venus I wonder if THIS relationship will be everlasting love. This also because her progressed Sun will be inconjunct his Uranus (and his Uranus is square his Mars) within a year from now.

PLUTO TRANSIT
It is not easy to be a saint or an angle when you are a living person. And it is even more difficult with transit Pluto conjunct Sun (when you live the intense way). Her Pluto is disposing of the 7th house of marriage, so that the problem that comes to the light with Pluto on the Sun is a relational problem.

ROMANCE
Also transit Neptune is conjunct her progressed Venus and Venus-Neptune is the combination for love affairs. Today transit Venus is conjunct progressed Neptune as well, to make it is difficult day with a romantic issue.

Woody Allen and Mia Farrow

Mia Farrow married Frank Sinatra. I wrote about their marriage last week. About the artist in the chart of Mia Farrow and Woody Allen, see Art&Astrology.

She also had a long lasting relationship with Woody Allen. They even have a child together. But it seems that they never lived in the same house. They had a living apart together- relationship. Their relationship ended in fighting each other. When there is a very tight aspect between the Mars of two persons, that is often the way the relationship ends, see the examples below. Mia Farrow's Mars is exactly conjunct the Mars of Woody Allen. They fought over the fact that he married her foster child. The intensity of this legal fight is mirrored by Mars opposition Pluto in Woody Allen's chart exactly on the meridian of Mia Farrow.

When people become partners, they often share experiences or goals and that is demonstrated by sharing aspects. (See my site Astromarkt.net for more about this...)

Mia Farrow and Woody Allen share:
- Sun-Jupiter aspects (she biquintile, he conjunction)
- Venus-Pluto aspects (she trine, he square)
- Moon-Venus aspects (she square, he trine)

They both have sense of style and art, they both want to earn a lot of money and they both are successful. Sharing this didn't make their partnership a great success, however. The Mars-Mars conjunction perhaps made a fresh and fast start in the beginning and/or sexual attraction started the affair. But the position of Neptune opposition Midheaven of the composite chart maybe says enough. Romance cannot be romance without drama. Even when their is a Sun conjunct Venus in the composite, too.

Akihito and Michiko (emperor and empress of Japan)

Akihito and Michiko: those are the names of the emperor and empress of Japan. They married 50 years ago.

Of course, emperors don't divorce. Pluto in the 7th house of Akihito shows a 'forced' or challenging marriage, a marriage under pressure. Mars is opposition Pluto in his chart, perhaps showing political sruggles.
He has Venus inconjunct Neptune and Mars square Uranus. Those are two out of the 4 indicational aspects for divorce.
She has Sun opposition Uranus and Venus ruler 7 square Pluto ruler 1: those are indications for divorce as well.
But: emperors don't divorce. They keep sharing a life and...aspects.

SHARED ASPECTS
He has Moon square Mercury, she has Moon opposition Mercury; they very well know how to behave.
He has Mars square Uranus and she has Mars trine Uranus; they might be considered friends, perhaps (they shared a freedom fight against his parents).
He has Venus conjunct Saturn and she has Venus trine Saturn; they share the obligations and feel the restrictions or status of marriage.
They both have Jupiter opposition Uranus; they both have a modern convicton.

His Sun is trine her Midheaven. Her Moon is inconjunct his Midheaven. He 'enligthed' her status, his status put her moods and habits out of balance.

AKIHITO
He is leader (Sun without major aspects and placed on the ASC), with above all an international (Jupiter elevated conjunct MC and the first outer planet rising) orientation. With Sun and Jupiter in double prominence the chart shows successful leadership at once.

When he his father died progressed Midheaven was square progressed Neptune. Progressed Moon was trine Pluto and inconjunct Jupiter. That position of the progressed Moon activated the existing combination in the birth chart (Moon inconjunct Jupiter and trine Pluto). Transit Uranus was conjunct his Sun in the year that his father died.
When he officially became emperor on November 11, 1990, transit Jupiter was trine progressed Midheaven and transit Pluto was inconjunct progressed Moon.

MICHIKO
She is artistic, sensitive or spitiritual but also a figther and activist. She is communicative and intelligent (Mercury on Ascendant) but she also knows how to pretend (Moon on Descendant). As she has a tight opposition Sun-Uranus, both square Pluto, she is rather radical and revolutionary, perhaps because she had to learn to live with the dramatic changes in life style following her marriage. As a civilian she was 'the stranger' in court for a long long time. Notice the position of Saturn square ASC for ambition and responsibilities, btw. Moon, Mercury, Saturn and Neptune are of importance. She had to live with powerful and pushing parents in law. It is a rumor that she had a nervous breakdown in the early sixties (due to the situation in court).

On January 7, 1989 she became empress with progressed Midheaven opposition progressed Uranus. Her position changed completely...In the solar return chart of that year Uranus was on Midheaven, too (perhaps for freedom at last). It was the day that her father in law,the former emperor, died.

Mia Farrow and Frank Sinatra

Frank Sinatra and Mia Farrow were a couple. Why? And why not forever?

Often people try to use astrology to see if a partner is the 'true' one, but sometimes the 'true partner' is the one who leaves you in the end and only suites you for a brief moment in life. And sometimes a marriage is a simple mistake:)

MATCHES
Frank and Mia Sun signs matched. If they did a simple online test called 'Do our starsigns match' the answer would have been 'Yes, they do'. His Sun is sextile hers. And signs don't mind about differences in age. Even their moons are not in conflict. But then it starts...Venus and Mars do not match!

Venus is square Venus (different sympathies and tastes)
Mars is tightly inconjunct Mars (for disproportional fight)

The aspects of Venus and Mars first create passion and love, but then it turns into a conflicts. There is passion at the start but differences tear them apart later.

So if they were asked if they matched, the answer would have been: 'Yes, you can ( live together as man and wife), but...there might be conflicts later'. Would they have listened? Probably not. And maybe that is a good thing, who knows.

Elvis and Priscilla Presley

Elvis Presley and Priscilla both have Sun trine Neptune and both have Neptune on top of their charts. Sharing Sun trine the elevated Neptune gives them a sort of a romantic view of life and of each other. He was of course her idol... But her Neptune is inconjunct his Moon and so there is the risk of a lost and no balance in the romantic needs. And did they match? No, they did not.

NO MATCH
Her Sun is in Gemini and his in Capricorn. Venus in Aries (hers) does not easily go with Venus in Capricorn. Her Mars in Aries is opposition his in Libra.

BUT:
- Her Sun is square his Moon. It is a usual Sun-Moon combination. She was the realization of his romantic needs.
- His Sun is trine her Jupiter. When she met him, her progressed Sun was square Jupiter: her life style improved, she was starting to be a success (and his progressed Venus was conjunct his Moon - he fell in love).
- His Sun is square her Mars. Her disproportionate drive to grow and make life better is linked to his life. She stimulated and activated him. His Sun and her Mars were in aspect. Her Sun is semi square Mars - a sign for possible divorce -. This relationship seems to have been 'ment to be'. Just like Sarah and Andrew they seem to have been made to divorce each other:).
- His Mars-Ascendant combination is in aspect with her Uranus and his natal Mars is biquintile his Uranus (a sign for a possible divorce). The relationship was a flaslight relationship that offered the chance for him to be a 'free man' even while married (he had to work:). She was often alone (re: Saturn in the 7th).

Often, when people with indications for possible difficulties in a partnership come together, they have found the right kind of person: the one that offers the opportunity to marry twice, to divorce or to remain alone for the rest of their lives.

PRISCILLA
Priscilla never remarried (but instead she had a long lasting relationship). She has Sun semi square Mars (one of the indications for divorce ub teg cgart if=. Saturn is in her 7th house, trine her Moon ruler 7. She married once. There have been other relationships, but she never married another man. Her Venus (in Aries) and Jupiter are 'calling' (not making major aspects) and they are a biquintile away from each other. This combination expresses a creative way to make more fun. Venus is 105 degrees from Pluto. The Venus-Jupiter-Pluto combination tells us about earning or gaining a lot of money and sympathy. Of course, Priscilla Presley started her own career after the death of Elvis. (That was on August 16, 1977 with transit Pluto trine Priscilla's progressed ASC, followed by progressed Moon opposition Saturn.)

ELVIS
Elvis had two indications for possible divorce: Venus sesquisquare Neptune and Mars-Uranus biquintile. The latter might be indicating that he was creative enough to find another way to be a 'free man'.

CONCLUSION
They didn't match, but they found each other in sharing the same dreams and romantic illusions in the beginning...She married her idol and he married his fan. It could not last for ever. It was their first marriage and both have indications for divorce and/or difficulties in marriage in their natal charts. Her Uranus on his descendant says enough: it was a flash light exiting relationship. And the batteries ran out of power.

Carla Bruni is the first lady of France. She is first of all an artist and she has a strong personality. She also has 3 indications in her chart for having difficulties with long lasting relationships. See her chart:

Of course, with these aspects, she didn't marry a John Smith who wanted 4 children and a housewife. She has been spotted with Mick Jagger, for example. There is strong attraction (his Mars - her Sun/Moon), but the inconjunction between their Suns must have caused serious problems. Who's star is shining, ehm? Another lover was Eric Clapton. Her Venus is sesquisquare his Mars and that promisses passion. But it didn't last. Their Suns didn't match, but worse is that their Saturns 'collided'. Perhaps age difference was a problem. Anyway, Saturn square Saturn causes separation in the end.

Now Carla Bruni is with Nicolas Sarkozy. They seem to be able to create a modus vivendi for the fact that both draw atttention (Sun semi quintile Sun) but living together in one house might be a problem (Moon qd Moon). His Jupiter on her Ascendant tells us that he will support her. In her presence he feels great:)
This relationship really has a good chance to survice, as it seems at first site. But what is that Uranus - symbol of controversy - on the Ascendant of the combine chart doing? And why is Neptune - for romance and the possibility of desillusion - on the IC of the combine chart? Time will tell...

CONCLUSION
When there are 2 or more indications for divorce in a chart, it won't be easy to find mr. Right. Carla Bruni is sensitive (as an artist) and she has a strong personality. She will easily be disappointed in her romantic ideas about love, with Venus conjunct Neptune in Scorpio. This and her ruler 1 conjunct Pluto could mean that she may want 'all or nothing' in love. Her chart doesn't show a compromise or sitting back and dream away watching romantic movies. She has Sun square Saturn (conjunct Midheaven) and is ambitious, also about partners. Saturn rules her 7th house.

Right now transit Uranus is inconjunct her progressed Ascendant and trine natal Ascendant. Uranus is conjunct the combine chart Ascendant. This transit might activate the combine chart, like a test for the relationship. Perhaps indepence (or upheavel) is an important issue in her relationships with others right now. Rumours say that Sarkozy is impressed by another beauty -Christine Kelly - and that he wants her to become part of his government. Newspapers speak of 'competition' for Bruni.

Barack and Michelle Obama

The most famous couple in the world of politics are the Obama's. Why are they together? Michelle Obama is a Sun Capricorn and Barack Obama is a Sun Leo. Their Suns are a quindecile apart for a strong focus on each other. Their sunsigns don't match, however. Capricorn and Leo Suns are both the kind of persons who want to be in charge.

Barack Obama is a Leo and in his progressed chart Saturn (ruler of Capricorn) is on top right now. This shows leadership and responsibilities.
Michelle's Sun in Capricorn (the sign of responsibilities, government and ambition) does not make Ptolemaic aspects: she is drawing attention and wants to be in the centre of it at any possible level.
So both have the qualities of a leader. Who's in charge:)? She is very encouraging and supporting him (Jupiter trine his Sun; their successes connect them) and he respects her (Saturn conjunct her Sun; responsibilities and ambitions connect them).

OBSERVATIONS
1. Natal charts and divorce
There are no aspects that indicate divorce in their charts.

2. Synastry
Saturn of Barack is conjunct Sun of Michelle.
Uranus of Barack is inconjunct Sun of Michelle.
Saturn of Michelle is inconjunct Mars of Barack.
Her Neptune is square his Ascendant.
Her Mars is trine his Moon.
But the tightest aspect is: her Jupiter trine his Sun (support and trust).

3. Shared aspects
There are no shared aspects (but see the next post about Michelle's guess chart).

CONCLUSION
The synergy promisses stability. The tendency in the president's chart to almost desperately stick to old patterns (Saturn inconjunct Uranus) is strongly connectd to Michelle's Sun.

Barack and Michelle Obama are both strong personalities and Michelle is a great support for Barack Obama. She has faith in him (her Jupiter and Neptune are involved). But...there is also the Mars-Saturn inconjunction. It is not a pleasant aspect. It is one of the indications in a woman's chart for an untimely end of a relationship with a man (perhaps through divorce). Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie

Rumours say that the marriage of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie is in a difficult period right now. Newspapers say that Angelina Jolie caught Brad Pitt with a nanny. There are other rumours, too: about the couple getting married!

NEPTUNE (desillusion, gossip and isolation)
Right now, Neptune is close to the progressed Descendant of Jolie and at the same time close to the Ascendant of Brad Pitt. Neptune was also opposition MC in his solar return chart. Neptune is his oriental planet, so very important. Neptune often confuses and causes desillusion or isolation. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are living apart right now because of their jobs (making movies in different places).
The other side is, that Neptune causes gossip too:) Sometimes it is amazing how newspapers and magazines manage to know exactly what Brad Pitt told Angelina Jolie...

MARS SQUARE MARS (cooperating or ...fighting each other)
The reported fuss and anger are not surprising, however. Her Mars is exactly square his Mars. I have seen that before. It was so in the charts of Woody Allen and Mia Farrow, see the post with links to the charts of other examples, like:
- Paul McCartney and Heather Mills with Mars inconjunct Mars
- Ike and Tina Turner with Mars square Mars
- Diana and Dodi, with Mars square Mars
- Andrew and Sarah, also Mars square Mars

It is clear that when Mars in a man meets Mars in a woman there is sexual attraction and competition (very stimulating when you are working together, although there may be a differant approach and method). But Mars is also the planet of aggression and anger...

The conflict between Mars and Mars is not the only astrological conflict. There are more difficulties to overcome in this relationships. For example, his Mercury square her Saturn, that will not make communications easier. Or his Pluto inconjunct her Moon, stressing the domestic situation that she needs. Mercury opposition Uranus on the horizon of the composite chart speaks of differences in opinion.

PS
Jolie's Venus square Uranus, ruler 1 square ruler 7 and Sun sesquisquare Uranus aren't exactly signs for a 'living happily ever after'. She divorced twice!
Brad Pitt is an atractive man. He has Moon conjunct Venus; he likes women. He has Venus sesquisquare Uranus for 'adventures' related to women. And there is that unaspected Sun in 1, drawing attraction at any level. And a romantic Neptune rising before the Sun. It won't be easy to be a faithful father under those circumstances. He divorced Jennifer Aniston.

Madonna and Guy Ritchie

It seems that Madonna (16th August 1958, Bay City, 7:05 a.m.) and Guy Ritchie (September, 10, 1968, Hatfield, time unknown) are not having the most pleasant time of their relationship. Madonna has difficult transits like Uranus inconjunct Sun (not matching will to be independant) and Pluto inconjunct Venus (test for a relationship) and sesquisquare Mars (all in all a difficulty in passion) right now. And the inconjunction is known for ending things. So th e press might be right.
Guy has Transit Uranus inconjunct Mars. I have indicated here before, that Mars-Uranus conflicts are causing trouble in relationships in the birth charts of males. And in their transits. In the charts of females Mars-Uranus might (not necessarily!) indicate the 'wrong' man, sometimes a relationship with a gay man.

What made the couple come together and what is the problem?
His Mars is almost exactly conjunct her Sun. She is the boss.
Her Saturn is square his Sun. She is older.
His Neptune is square her Sun: she is his 'muse', his inspiration.

It does not mean that any relation with an elderly woman is born to die. It means that in THIS situation and relationship it is a possible problem.

Right now, her progressed Sun is in the middle of his Mercury and Venus. His progressed Mars is almost conjunct his Sun and...her Jupiter! It doesnot sound too bad, I am afraid. However: if this is Guy Ritchie first longlasting relationship, their might be trouble. Because he has Moon conjunct Saturn and Venus semi square Neptune (for the artist and for love affairs). Two of the four indications for breaking up!*)


*) The others are Moon afflicted by Neptune and Mars in conflict with Uranus.

PS: What I forgot to mention is the match between them. There is little. The Suns and Moons do not match, neither does Mercury. Venus matches Venus (something had to match, or else they would not have started their relationship). But there is also a wide square between Mars and Mars. Often such a relationship starts with sexual attraction and ends up fighting each other.

John and Jackie Kennedy

The marriage of Jacqueline Bouvier and John F. Kennedy ended with the death of JFK. This post is about the astrological relationship of the charts of this famous couple.

Jacqueline Bouvier was born with Venus and Jupiter in Gemini. Jupiter was in the seventh house of marriage. She married twice. Indications for the way that he ended his young life are:

2. Mars inconjunct Ascendant (disproportional acts or aggression)
3. Uranus inconjunct MC (unbalanced sudden changing status)

2. His Moon is exactly trine her Northern Node (for emotional relationship, taking care together)

3. in the composite chart there is Sun conjunct Moon, a strong indication for creating a family life

4. His Venus -ruler 1 - is conjunct her Sun/Moon and that is a fine end of this story. Sun/Moon is family life, heart and soul. And Venus is sympathy and love. So at a particular moment in time his love was joining her wish to have a family life.

Prince Charles and his Camilla

Today Prince Charles met the Pope with transit Jupiter square his Sun. That is a good sign for a trip abroad. And now that I mention him, let us see how he matches with Camilla.

CHARLES
Charles married Diana first. In his chart Venus conjunct Neptune shows the possible divorce. He has Sun/Moon in aspect with Saturn and that is a reflection of breaking up a family in our days (it means: a distant family life).

CAMILLA
Camilla married Mr. Parker first. In her chart Sun is semi sextile Uranus, a weak sign for a divorce. But Sun/Moon is 22.5 degrees from Saturn and from Uranus. Restricted and stirred up family life...

MATCH
I like the way that their charts match.
His Sun is trine hers (within 1.5 degrees)
Their Ascendants are close together,just like their MC's

They can easily join lifes, they share the same kind of approach and goals and as the Moons are in agreeable signs, they are able to live together. There are no conflicts, although the signs of Venus and Mars don't match. There is compensation for that: her Sun/Moon is square his prominent Venus. His love and sympathy have an effect on her family life and is what she wants most of all. How romantic.

Her Descendant is inconjunct his Saturn and that reveals some of the problems. Is "a disproportionate (inconjunct) delay (Saturn) of marriage (Descendant)" a good translation of the astrological message, perhaps?
